Hace unos días realicé una publicación donde les hablé acerca de los parásitos me enfoque en los parásitos internos, pero también les comente que están o existen los parásitos externos hoy dedicaré esta publicación para hablarles de estos otros bichitos que son bien desagradables.
Primero vamos a recordar que es un parásito.
Es un organismo que depende, mejor dicho se alimenta de las sustancias que elabora otro ser vivo y vive en su interior o sobre su anfitrión.
Los parásitos externos como su nombre lo indica son los que se encuentran fuera del cuerpo de nuestros gatitos, entre ellos las famosas pulgas, hablemos de algunos de ellos y como eliminarnos ya que se pueden ser una verdadera pesadilla y al igual que los internos pueden causar enfermedades que pueden matar a tu gato o animal de compañía.
Aunque nuestros gatos no tengan acceso al exterior pueden tener parásitos externos ya sea porque algún vecino tenga un animal con pulgas, garrapatas, ácaros entre otros o nosotros sin saber podemos llevarnos de polizón alguno de estos bichitos a casa, entre los parásitos externos tenemos:
Las pulgas suelen picar a los gatos, otros animales de compañía e incluso a los humanos para alimentarse de su sangre, tienen el cuerpo aplanado y se pueden ver muchas veces caminando sobre el cuerpo del gato, una de sus principales características son los grandes saltos que logran dar, esto gracias a sus patas traseras.
Si ves sobre tu gato una especie de arenita negra, estas en presencia de excremento de pulgas y esta no es la peor parte, ella luego de alimentarse baja del animal para poner sus huevos en el ambiente, entonces para que lo sepas la pulga no vive sobre el gatito vive en tu casa, en el ambiente.
Una de las enfermedades que la pulga puede trasmitir a nuestros gatos es el Anaplasma patys, sobre esta enfermedad realice una publicación te dejo aqui el enlace si deseas más información.
Además de esta enfermedad hay gatitos que son sensibles a la saliva de las pulgas esto trae como consecuencia una reacción alérgica o dermatitis.
Un gato o cualquier otro animal de compañía que esté a merced de una gran cantidad de pulgas puede ser víctima de una anemia severa.
Debo comenzar indicando que yo nunca he visto un gato con garrapatas, pero amigas y otras compañeras animalistas me dicen que si han visto casos, ahora en perros si vi, en el último perro que tuve de nombre Towser y fue una experiencia bastante desagradable, estos parásitos incrustan su cabeza en el animal y succionan su sangre y van aumentado de tamaño, al estar llena se suelta para poner sus huevos y adivinen donde los pone en el ambiente, dentro de la casa o jardín. Al igual que la pulga la garrapata transmitirle enfermedades como la borreliosis, la erliquiosis, además de anemia en infestaciones importantes.
Este parásito externo es mínimo no se ve a simple vista, ocasiona caída del pelo, producen picor intenso, costras húmeda y suelen alojarse en las orejas, la cabeza y el cuello, del gato suelen ser los causantes de la sarna, tuve un caso de un gato con ácaros y se quedó practicante sin pelo y contagio a Señor Gato el tratamiento fue bastante largo y costoso.
Aquí empezarán las opiniones encontradas hay quienes dicen que los gatos no se bañan porque ellos son muy limpios y tienen una capa de grasa en su pelaje que se debe cuidar.
Yo baño a mis gatos una vez al mes si la falta de agua me lo permite con un champú especial para gatos, los hay contra las pulgas, medicados, normales, con cápsulas y pare de contar, bañar a un gato no es tarea sencilla, yo recomiendo usar agua tibia para disminuir el nivel de estrés.
Es impotente que además del baño blindes a tu gato contra nuevas infestaciones, puedes usar collares contra las pulgas, pipetas,, pastillas en fin, existen diversidad de productos en el mercado, lo importante es que consultes cual es el adecuado para tu animal de compañía.
Ahora bien, como ya les comenté las pulgas, garrapatas, ácaros hacen vida en el ambiente así que debes buscar la manera de limpiar a fondo para erradicarlas, puedes fumigar si tu presupuesto lo permite, también existen plantas naturales con las que puedas limpiar tu casa, ejemplo la escoba amarga. Si tienes alfombras limpialas a fondo, a las pulgas les encantan, aspira todo lugar donde tu mínino se acueste. Así podrás eliminar las que ya tengas y evitar futuras infestaciones.
