🏡 First Met : Immediately Fell in Love !!!
As soon as I stepped into the courtyard , I immediately felt like I was in a time machine ! The house is towering with a typical roof tapering upwards called a high ridge , like a long triangle that stands firmly . The walls are made of ironwood , said to be ironwood because it is very strong , durable , and a favorite in Borneo .
The ceiling is high , making it cool even though the sun is stinging . The stairs are quite high , so when you go up to the house , it feels like you're on the stage of life . 😆
🌴 Ambience : Peaceful , Green , and Traditional
The surroundings of this house are still very beautiful . Many large trees and tropical plants are thriving . The air here is clean , cool , and really makes the lungs happy ! In the distance , the sound of local birds chirping , as if welcoming guests .
🛶 Ornaments that amaze me
Well , the part that makes me feel most at home is the ornaments! Let me tell you some of the ones that amazed me :
•Traditional Wooden Ship
On one side of the house, there is a super detailed miniature wooden ship! This ship represents the river culture in Kalimantan - where people used to (and still do!) move, trade, and even get married on the river
•Aisle Chairs
There is also a set of Banjar traditional aisle chairs with intricate gold carvings. It looks like a royal throne, complete with gold and red fabrics. Can you imagine the romance of a wedding procession here?
•Gold Seeker Statue on the River
This is really unique-there is a statue of an old man in shabby clothes, squatting on the edge of a “mini river”, his hand holding a tray for panning for gold. A living legend of the golden age of Kalimantan! I was stunned for a few minutes, absorbing the symbolism of struggle and the blessings of nature.
📸 Many Photo Spots, Many Stories
Every corner of this house is Instagrammable! But more than that, each carving and shape of the building seems to have its own story. Every time I take a step, I feel like I'm being visually explained about the history and philosophy of life of the Banjar people.
Visiting this traditional house is not just about looking at buildings. It's also about getting to know the nation's identity through its rich and deep culture. Honestly, I came home with a sense of emotion and pride-that in my homeland, there is an extraordinary cultural wealth that should be preserved.
📌 If you love cultural exploration and meaningful places , don't skip South Kalimantan from your bucket list . Trust me , it's worth it !
