(I missed this when my cousins and I hang out last year before the new year.)
The start of a new year always makes me think about random things. I feel hopeful but also thankful about where I am right now. I believe that this time, with how harsh 2025 was with every single one of us, as I welcome another year I remind myself to move with carefully without letting the past year be a burden in my mind.
Setting Simple and Real Goals
At the beginning of each year I sit down and think about what I can truly handle. I used to write long lists and resolutions before and I often felt tired just looking at them as I rarely get to do them. Now, I choose goals that are simple easy like get to the top 20 in my class or just speak English more fluently for my blogs. I think about what I can do and what can really be done realistically.
My goals now focus on daily habits instead of grand promises. I want to be more active and finish tasks without rushing. It may be as small as doing the chores every 6am or making breakfast so my parents would have longer sleep during their day offs. These goals may sound small but they help me feel more fulfilled. I learned that doing less but doing it well brings more fulfillment each day.
Welcoming the New Year
(I hope we can do it next year. Everyone was busy this year.)
To welcome the new year, I follow small customs that feel right to me. I clean my room and let go of things I no longer use or need. As an example, I was surprised I had two bags of old clothes that I wasn't using. I folded them nicely and gave them to my cousins and the rest are to the victims of fire that happened near here some time before Christmas. This helps me feel lighter and ready for a fresh start. It feels like closing a chapter while helping others and saying thank you before moving on.
