Lady In Red
Lady In Red - Acrylic on canvas, 50 x 75 cm
Just a little bit of practice in the studio today and you guessed it, figure painting was the mood for the day.
The main goal of today's exercise was simply to loosen up my brush strokes and allow the paint to do most of the talking. Additionally, it also became a great exercise in colour and tonal values.
The female figure is a subject that I turn to often when sketching, I just love the sweeping curves found in their physique (as I'm sure many of you do too lol)
With this in mind, I decided to paint a female figure using only two colours, namely Cadmium Red Light (Scarlet) and Mars Black. After painting in the main female form, I used a little bit of Bright Yellow to add some highlights and for contrast, I also added some Cyan Blue and Olive Green to the background to add some texture.
Anyhoo, this will be an ongoing practice exercise that I hope to revisit each week so I'd say you can definitely expect to see more of these ladies in many different colours.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my post, I really do appreciate your time.
And remember to keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're thinking...!
