Cathedral of Bom Jesus: this is the cathedral of the good Lord Jesus. It is a minor basilica status (granted to it on 15th November 1974) Catholic temple. It is located in Cuiaba which is the capital of Mato Grosso, Brazil. This beautiful Catholic church was built in 1722 and was named as the ‘pau-a-pique,’ as the mother church of Cuiaba, it was rebuilt in capital from 1739 to 1740. Its first bell tower was built in 1769. Earlier in 1745, it was the seat of Prelature, but later in 1826, it was elevated to the level of diocese then again in 1910 the church was elevated from diocese to archdiocese. Throughout the years it kept under reformation. It was rebuilt in 1739, 1740, 1745, 1868 and 1920 but the most significant modification happened in 1920 when its façade and tower was hugely altered, but in the same year a new tower was also made on the premises of the church. Because of the curse of modernization; it was decided to demolish the cathedral, and it was destroyed on 25th September 1968, a lot of dynamite was used in the process, and this demolition made a lot of people sad; the act of demolition was regretted by a lot of people for a lot of years; but then it was again rebuilt and inaugurated on 24th May 1973 the work for the new cathedral started from the chapel that was in the background even before the old church was completely demolished. But, this time it had a slightly modern architecture, the modern architecture, however, did not take away the charm of this church and it is still as beautiful as it was in the past before it was demolished and you can see how perfectly it is made. Earlier it was made with lianas, wood, and mud but this time it was made with concrete. This cathedral is located at Praça da República, s/n - Centro Norte, Cuiabá - MT, 78005-240, Brazil and is free of cost to visit. Sightseers and worshippers are both welcome to attend this majestic place to worship and to enjoy the beauty of it; you can visit it any time you like because it is always open. You must visit this place once. It is a significant attraction to Cuiaba. This church was a dedication to Good Lord Jesus.
