Hi! ANNYEONG! KONNICHIWA HIVERS! It’s and I’m going to share my unforgettable experience of the tallest waterfall in Cebu: MANTAYUPAN FALLS
The first time we went in Barili, it was last year May 2024. We went to Barili to visit our relatives from my father side and pay respect on my deceased grandfather. We stayed there for 2 days and 1 night. When we went there, I hardly recognize my cousins and their names too because my last visit was when I was on grade six, so imagine how many years it has been since my last visit. I also don’t have any contacts with them during those years since I’m not very close with them. So, when I arrive, I was so introvert and to shy to start a conversation with them.
During our stay there, I had a breakout. I was very frustrated because I was very excited to take pictures in Mantayupan Falls. And to share with you all, I’m very meticulous of my face. I get anxious when my face is oily that’s why I always have powder in my bag. So, imagine my shock when I saw my face in the mirror and saw tiny bumps in my face?? I was like OHMYGOODDD! And panicked a bit since I don’t know if it was because of the water since we are in the countryside and they don’t really have access on water every time. And the water I used that time to wash my face was clear but there was some dust at the bottom so I can’t say that it was clean.
When we arrived at Mantayupan Falls, I was amaze because I didn’t expect that there are two waterfalls, the first fall is 14 meters tall, and the second fall is 98 meters tall. The entrance fee is 100 pesos for those who want to swim and 50 pesos for those who don’t want to swim. Upon entering there are these thin like vines that is hanging from the tree, it made the entrance look majestic since you can’t clearly see the falls yet because of those vines. Another thing that made me amaze was the colorful hanging bridge that is perfect for Instagram post. We really took our time taking picture and videos on the hanging bridge because it was really beautiful. When we went for a swim, the water was very blue and very cold too. Even though it was a hot sunny day, the coldness of the water did not budge a bit, that’s how cold it was. We also bought a life vest because it has a lot of rock, and it was slippery too. We also wear it for safety purpose because we never know if the next rock we step is still shallow or not since the surface of the falls is not even. And if you’re not a good swimmer you will really get drown in the water since the pressure is high.
The second time that I went to Mantayupan Falls was last month April. We went there again to visit my relatives, and it was also my grandfathers’ 1st death anniversary. Last year it was only me and my family who went there, but last month my uncle from mother side came home from abroad and wanted to visit together with my cousin and grandmother from mother side. When we went there the first thing that I notice it that the signage from the entrance it not there anymore and there was an ongoing construction of an extension of there restaurant. The water that time was not blue unlike our last visit because before we went there, it was raining so I think that’s what caused the water to turn brown. And as usual, we took pictures and videos again in the hanging bridge because the pictures that we took last year was still not enough hahaha.
My sister, cousin, and I took turns on taking pictures and we actually got conscious since there were a few people looking at us on each end of the bridge because they want to take pictures to with no photo bombers. So, even if we want to take picture in a fast way, we can’t because there are also other people passing by in the bridge since it was the only way to go to the second fall. So, after an hour of almost a pictorial session, we went to the second fall and was surprised because there’s a big word of Mantayupan Falls, which was never in there last year. It surprised us because in just a span of year a lot has change but in a good way. The staff has taken a good care on emphasizing the beauty of Mantayupan Falls.
Before going to take a swim, the lifeguard has warned the tourist to stay away first from the water because there was a snake. A few minutes later, they announced that it is safe to go back again in the water because the snake has been captured. I didn’t saw how long the snake was since a lot of people was looking at it too. I just went straight for a swim even though the water was brown and a hot sunny day, it was still cold as ever, which I love the most.
After an hour in the water, my auntie asks to go to what they call “Tilapyahan” it’s a place where there’s a tilapia pond and a pool. It was just a few meters away from Mantayupan Falls so we went there. The entrance fee was 70 pesos for those who want to swim and 40 pesos for those who don’t want to swim. Even though I was tired from swimming, I still went for a swim in there because I want to seize the moment that we’re still there and enjoy my time with them.
We stayed there until it was almost 5pm. It was raining when we went home so the road was kind of slippery. When we arrived at my aunts’ house, the rain has stopped, and we change our clothes and ate dinner there before we went home. The ride on the way home was fast since there was no traffic.
So, that’s it for my unforgettable experience of the tallest falls in Cebu! I hope you enjoy reading my blog and support it! Lots of love Hivers<3<3<3
