Are we achieving living in the present if each day we get up in the morning, go to work, come home and go to bed at night? It couldn't possibly be a hard thing to do. And it is not as long as one does not dwell on the past or worry about the future. It sounds complicated.....and it is.
One of the traps to get you out of living in the present is not stopping from mulling over what could have been and what went wrong. It can be hard to stop the mind from ticking over especially if one has a tendency to be a pessimist. For most people it is normal to go int a 'pitty pit' for a short time. The trick is not to stay there. Not only is one living more in the past but continual self whipping leads to a lowering of self-confidence and self-worth. This can lead to a diagnosis of depression.
Then there is the lack of everything will be alright attitude, having trust issues or not believing in silver linings for the future can have devastating emotional, mental and psychological well being impacts on people. Life in the present does not always run smoothly. Tomorrow's problems and upsets have a way of consuming us. All we can do is worry.
All in all, physically living in the present is a breeze but not so the emotional, mental and psychological living in the now. To achieve a complete state of being present it is suggested that we learn how to cope in the best possible way to deal with life's curve balls whether it be through the power of gathering information on effective counter techniques, developing meditation and yoga routines, delving into spirituality, daily exercising and a daily retreat into nature etc.
It is up to us to look after ourselves so we can live quality happy lives in the present. Maybe you have already achieved this, I hope so.
Blessings everyone
Cheers
