Along with ideologies and forms of government, are institutions and systems that hold significant power over the governing of a state. Some of these are satirical, but recognised, systems of influence on government forms. Of course, there are other, and the potential for many more, but these should give you a better understanding on the systems and what you can use or create for your story:
Bankocracy:
This is where the banking system maintains a degree of power to influence the laws and government.Corporatocracy:
Here, private corporations influence or rule the government and have power over the laws of state.Neptocracy:
In this influence, relatives of those in the ruling of the state are given positions of power regardless of qualifications.Kakistocracy:
Also called an idiocracy, this system holds the least qualified in positions of power within the government.Kleptocracy:
In this system, those in power manipulate and corrupt the state in favour of their personal wealth and gain.Ochlocracy:
This system influences the government by way of the crowd, or where the crowd rules over government, often under the sway of demagogues. A state under the decentralised blockchain may become an ochlocracy.Bureaucracy:
In this system, government and state are influenced or ruled by administration and officials of order.Nomocracy:
As opposed to a theocracy, this system dictates the governing of state under the law and rational thought, and the law reigns as supreme authority in all matters.
