If you think you've seen it all, I believe you, I've seen a little bit of everything too, but making a bandana from a shirt sleeve is something else, and here we even recycle the hem of the shirts 😁 it seems like a joke 🤣 but it is very true, the scraps that we sometimes have left over from clothes we can use to make anything we want and need, well such is the case that my clients always want to do something additional to what they send to be made but sometimes it is necessary to explain to them that it is not enough, 🤭 yes it is a challenge but sometimes if we want to do something additional it must be small what we send to be made.
We seamstresses don't do magic, but we do try to explain to our clients what they can use for what's left and what isn't. Of course, this happens when a client comes in who wants to make a hair tie, and I understand her because I would also like to make many things out of a meter of fabric 🤣🤷🏻♀️ but unfortunately sometimes there's no room left 😅 But anyway, speaking of another topic, today I'm showing you the simple process of how I made a hair bandana for one of my clients.
Don't worry, she's not one of those who wants everything from a meter of fabric, but she did tell me that she had this scrap of a sleeve that she cut a while ago to remodel the shirt and well, she wanted to know if it could be made into a bandana, so I told her yes and it was time to start making it because she wanted to see how it looked, so well, let's hope she likes it a lot 🤭.
It was essential to cut the sleeve in the center or where the bottom seam is visible and then unstitch it with the thread cutter all the way to the top to be able to open the sleeve and level it.
After I open it, I spread it out on the table and with a ruler I mark the sides with sewing chalk to make a square on both sides.
The next thing I will do is join the piece so that it is long and I will sew it along the edge leaving 1 cm of seam and we will sew with a straight seam leaving a space at the top and we will start sewing.
When I have sewn up to this point I will turn the piece over, take a pin and sew the inside of the tie at both ends of the bandana on the sides. I will join both pieces and also sew with a straight stitch. Then I will sew it over with a hidden stitch by hand so that this work is easier for us and our seam cannot be seen.

With a shirt sleeve you can make your beautiful hair bandanas and thus recycle these pieces of fabric that we possibly have on hand. I wish you a happy afternoon and thank you for visiting this simple blog, see you soon 🥰.
