Today one of my important customers visited my shoemaking shop and requested special slippers which she will like to wear this week Wednesday for a friend's birthday.
She made this request following one of the slippers I shared here last Sunday which I made for my wife. The customer told me that she saw my wife wearing it when I and her were going out on that same Sunday.
The customer commented on the good-looking of my knitting work based on evidence of me and my team in knitting and crocheting slippers. She told me to make any special slippers of my choice that she knows very well that I will choose a perfect one for her that will match her birthday outing. I have to ask my team to start work immediately.
Me, I wanted to make red knitting slippers for her but I just considered making a unique and surprising one for her as one of my shoemaking team suggested because of her compliments on the effort of my team in the shoemaking business across the country. We considered making the slippers with different colors to match white based on what she will be wearing for her birthday.
To be honest with you, you can’t even imagine how I always feel when a customer says good things about my team's efforts in shoemaking especially for the ones we knit or crochet because the work is full of creativity at all times. For days now, no customer had said something like this except recently from this particular customer.
All I will say to every needleworker is to always apply more ideas during any knitting or crocheting work because it pays to make a good name in the business.
Materials used for the making of the slippers:
Yarn: This is a material I consider the main beauty of any knitted or crocheted works, especially in the making of male and female shoes, slippers, bags, and every other needle works. Without the creativity of yarn in knitting or crocheting of any needle works, that work will not be patronized by any kind of customer because every customer needs something new and good to wear always.
Slippers sole: This is always the material I also consider important in any of my slippers knitting because it is the main support to any shoe or slippers. If you make use of a good slipper sole for the knitting of your work, consider that slippers last more than a year because yarn knitting lasts very long in usage.
Slippers leather: This is also a very important material used for the knitting or crocheting of slippers because it serves as the key protector to the sole of the slipper thereby making water not penetrate easily to the sole to avoid quick spoil of the slippers during usage.
Gum: I also consider this material as important in shoemaking just like every other material because its purpose in shoemaking cannot be underrated by any means but must be considered as among the important ones.
Tools used for the slippers are:
Yarn pin which is very important for knitting slippers.
Scissors are also important for cutting leather and yarn as well.
Lighter matches for the trimming of the yarn after knitting are complete.
Sandpaper is used for cracking the leather and slippers' sole.
Hammer for slight hitting to make proper gumming solid.
How the slippers were made:
Make sure that every material for the work is complete before starting work.
Determine the size of slippers you are working on.
Make your measurement of the slippers.
Make a sketch of the top slippers leather with a pen or pencil.
Cut the leather that you measured.
Then start your knitting according to the style of slippers you want with the leather.
Sandpaper the slipper's sole and the leather.
Gum with brush carefully.
Place the slipper's sole and leather in the sun for like 4 to 5 hours to dry.
Fix your slippers well and then hit slightly with a hammer to compress well.
