Hello friends,
While I’m recovering from cold, I decided to go through my travel photos and to use it as a reference for the drawing.
I really like this Grace United Methodist Church building in St.Augustine. In general St.Augustine is historical city with lots of authentic buildings. Many of them look like if you
Grace United Methodist Church is a historic church. It was donated to the people of St. Augustine, Florida, by Henry Morrison Flagler. It was built in Spanish Renaissance Revival style from 1886 to 1887. It’s hard to believe that 145 years ago they were able to build this impressive building in just one year! To me it looks like a castle. I like castles so I couldn’t just walk by and not take photos and check the building closer.
I don’t know why I didn’t think of taking photos of the interior. I didn’t even think of going inside. Too bad for me.
Here is the photo that I took.
Materials used.
Regular pencil
Pink Eraser
Watercolor notepad
Micron black liner 0.5
Procces
- First I tried to get the main lines to biuld perspective.
- After getting the feel of it it’s easier to add details.
- After I finished my pencil sketch, I began tracing my sketch with liner.
- line after line I kept tracing it. Not always liner goes where I want. You can see that some lines aren’t perfect and a bit curved.
- The lines that are closer to the observer I try to make more thick.
- After I was done with tracing the buildings I switch to the surroundings (trees, bushes, etc).
Here are some fragments.
*Next time God willing I will try coloring it with watercolors.
I hope you enjoyed the process photos!
