There are days when everything feels a hectic. There are times in school or at home where responsibilities start piling up. During those times, I noticed that my energy depends a lot on whether my mood for that day. Usually, I stretch and walk around before going back to doing my chores, assignments and whatnot. Even random swaying out of the blue can improve my mood even without me realizing it at first.
I also learned that physical activity doesn’t always have to be planned or serious to matter. It doesn’t need schedules, goals and simple moves can be effective. I would say that the best activity to motivate you when you're feeling down is the one that's most fun for you.
Dancing and Why It Makes Me Feel Good
The physical activity that boosts my confidence and makes me feel the happiest is dancing. I don’t see myself as ever becoming a professional dancer or doing dancing professionally. I also don’t always record my dances. Sometimes I take short videos just for fun or memories but most of the time, I dance without thinking about cameras at all. May it be swaying my hips as I sweep the floor or playing around with my cat, it can make me happy enough to do it even without anyone watching me.
I would like to say that I dance at least once a week. Honestly though, it happens more randomly than that. Most of the time, I just dance randomly when I’m hanging out with friends or doing random house chores. When someone in my friend group plays music or we joke around, you will see suddenly that one person will just dance out of nowhere. Before we realize it, everyone is just dancing. Everyone is laughing and just enjoying the moment.
What I love about dancing is that there’s no pressure to be perfect. I watch and copy some steps but most of the time, I don’t worry about steps, mistakes or how I look. I just move how I want and that action alone makes me feel more confident.
Dancing also helps me improve my mood especially when I'm down. When I’m tired or overwhelmed, dancing in a random music helps clear my head. Dancing is something that I do naturally and something that just happens. I just have fun, joke around and over time, being goofy with random dance improves my confidence.
