I have long wanted to tell you about my homemade shingles, which I used to decorate the walls of the house. Of course, this is not a piece of art and may seem a little primitive, but it seems to me that it turned out fine and very cheap.
My wife and I have been thinking for a long time about what material to cover the house with, in conditions of a limited budget. At this time, I accidentally saw an ad for the sale of used plywood. And then an idea came to me - what if we cut plywood sheets into long strips and then make vertical cutting on these strips?
I ordered a whole bunch of plywood, conducted an experiment on one sheet. It turned out great. And I got to work.
Sawed a bunch of plywood sheets, cut vertical cuts. I did it by eye to give a more natural look as if they were separate tiles.
After that, I treated the plywood with a bio-protective primer and painted it with white paint.
Well, then installation directly on the facade of the house.
It is worth noting that initially I used a special 3-in-one paint (primer, bio-protection and paint), but a year later it proved to be very bad.
Mold has appeared on some shingles. Therefore, for subsequent work, I first treated the plywood with mold protection, and then painted, but with a different paint.
As a result, the homemade shingles has been hanging on the walls for two years and has shown itself perfectly. During a spring hurricane, more precisely 3 in a row, the top row was torn off, which I attached to nails. I made new sheets and screwed them already on the screws. Now all the sheets are secured securely.
I hope my homemade shingles will last for more than one year, and of course I hope that I have enough strength to finish the rest - my circular the saw is not very comfortable and heavy, and after sawing 10 sheets, the brush gets very tired. But I think I can handle it.
