Sometimes I'll want to re-immerse myself into a series and it will consume my free time for a few weeks and the holidays were the perfect time to get back into WARHAMMER! I reinstalled Dawn Of War 2 with the Elite Mod to start off.
The Elite Mod tweaks and fixes much of the game and adds another faction and playing it had me rethinking several of my strategies I previously would use in the regular game but as an Imperial Guard player eventually I just sent waves of my own men knowing the enemy had a set kill limit.
Playing Dawn of War 2 was fun but I wanted to try a more recent game in the 40K Universe and the Steam Winter Sale was a good time to pick up Inquisitor: Martyr! The game is an Action Role Playing Game (ARPG) sort of like Diablo.
After picking an Inquisitor I was surprised with how detailed the game looked and was astonished with how the weapons dealt with the foes I battled against, when reading a book from the 40k series it gives plenty of detail on what a weapon does to a target but actually seeing it in Inquisitor: Martyr was a whole different experience!
I'll be coming back to this when I need a break for sure.
Recently my Brother has been telling me about the Fantasy aspect of Warhammer and his campaigns of Total War: Warhammer 2, I saw some of his matches and knew instantly my computer would explode from the amount of stuff happening on the screen. I instead purchased Vermintide 2, the CO-OP FPS reminded me of Left4Dead so I was somewhat familiar with how to play. Thankfully some friends also played this and were happy to play(read:CARRY) with me as I began.
Figuring out the Blocking mechanic was easy enough but knowing how to dodge is still in the works! I enjoy the character interactions as events happen around them and the variety of gear that can change each play through is hard to get a hang of. I decided to play a tank role and am still having to figure out where I should be positioned.
Although it seems that now I need to figure out where the tomes and black grimoires are located to ensure the victory gear chest is maxed out, otherwise the random teammates get grumpy! All in all I think these games have satiated my hunger for the Warhammer series for now and I hope the next installments like Space Marine 2 and Darktide are worth the long wait!
Holidays are over now and its time to get back into the Blockchain and Play2Earn, Did you find yourself also getting immersed in a series or setting over the holidays?
I am excited for what 2022 will bring to Hive!
Thank you for reading and Happy New Year!
