Welcome everyone 👋, I'm back again with a new post for the Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge!
What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is an online collectible card game using blockchain technology. Every card in the game is owned as a non-fungible token (NFT) and is traded using similar features to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. If you’ve ever played collectible trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh!, you’ll find a similar experience, but through a web browser and blockchain wallet.
Healed Out
This week, the ruleset we have to introduce for this challenge is the Healed Out ruleset, which disables all forms of healing for summoners and monsters on the battlefield. Which means that Heal, Tank Heal, and Triage abilities will have no effect. It's like having the Affliction ability on all monsters, which prevents them from being healed by any method, but the Healed Out ruleset is even better since there is no card that can disable its effect unlike Affliction, which can be cleansed.
Abilities that still work with this ruleset:
Monsters with the Scavenger ability will gain 1 max health each time any monster dies.
The Strengthen ability, will increase the health of all friendly monsters by +1 (can be stacked).
Monsters with the Life Leech ability will continue to increase their health each time they damage an enemy unit's health by half the damage dealt (rounded up).
Now let's analyze a high-ranking battle in the Champions League wild format:
Sp6astimber VS Orrkis!
| Lost Legendaries: Legendary monsters may not be used in battles. | Healed out: All healing abilities are removed from monsters and summoners. | Melee Mayhem: Melee attack monsters can attack from any position. |
The first player, Sp6astimber, decides to play with Valnamor (water elemental) as his summoner, to power up his magic monsters with +1 attack, and the summoner will also provide them with +1 Speed and +1 Health.
In the frontline position, Lobstradamus will be its main tank, it has high health and great abilities that will help it endure the battle. The magic lobster reduces damage taken from melee and ranged attacks by 50%. If it takes damage from an enemy magic attack, it will deal half the damage back (rounded up) to the attacker. Additionally, it deals 2 melee damage to any enemy that attacks it with a melee attack.
In the second position, Prismatic Energy, who also has high health and will take reduced damage from magic attacks by 50%. If it takes damage from an enemy magic attack, it will deal half the damage back (rounded up) to the attacker.
In third position, River Nymph will help remove all negative effects from the first position unit at the start of each turn. With its Amplify ability, it will increase magic reflect, return fire and thorns damage to all enemy units by 1. And will increases the speed of its allies by +1.
In the fourth position, Venari Wavesmith will help its allies by giving them +2 armor, and will remove all positive status effects on the enemy it attacks.
In the fifth position, Sea Genie, who can Fly, has a 25% bonus chance to evade melee and ranged attacks from non-flying monsters. And will increase the health of his allies by +1.
In the last position, Coastal Sentry, which thanks to the Melee Mayhem ruleset can attack from the backline. It has two attacks per round, has Piercing damage, and will deal double damage when attacking a stunned enemy.
On the other hand, Orrkis decides to choose Lorna Shine (light summoner) as his summoner, who will protect his team with the Divine Shield ability, which allows his monsters to ignore the first time they receive damage (poison still works).
Shieldbearer in the frontline position, who will draw all enemy attacks towards him, will also receive reduced damage from melee and ranged attacks by 50%. And it will return half the damage (rounded up) back to its attacker if its an ranged attack.
Warrior of Peace in the second position, who has a lot of health and reduces all types of damage (melee, ranged and magic) from all enemies by -1.
Sand Worm in the third position, this giant monster will attack the enemy monsters that are in the last position first. If the enemy, it attacks is a Flying creature, it will snare it, removing its ability to fly, and its attack will not miss.
Time Mage in the fourth position, will reduce the enemy's speed by -1 and will also reduce the enemy's armor by -2.
Silvershield Assassin in the fifth position, like its ally (Sand Worm), will attack the enemies in the backline first. It can make two attacks each round, and its attacks have a 50% chance to apply Poison (- 2 health loss at the start of the round) to the enemy.
Cave Slug in the last position, has the lowest speed on its team, but will attack the enemy with the lowest health on the enemy team. Every time a monster dies, it will gain +1 Max Health. And will reduce the speed of all enemy units by -1.
Round 1:
☠️Coastal Sentry is the first to be eliminated by Sand Worm.
Lobstradamus destroys ☠️Shieldbearer.
Round 2:
Sand Worm defeats ☠️Sea Genie.
Round 3:
☠️Time Mage is destroyed by Lobstradamu's Magic Reflect ability.
Prismatic Energy defeats ☠️Warrior of Peace.
Lobstradamus kills ☠️Sand Worm.
Round 4:
☠️Venari Wavesmith is defeated by Poison applied by Silvershield Assassin in the previous round.
☠️Lobstradamus is killed by ☠️Silvershield Assassin, who is also eliminated by the Lobstradamus' Thorns ability.
Round 5-7:
River Nymph ends the battle by destroying ☠️Cave Slug.
Initially it seemed like Orrkis' team had the advantage, but as the rounds went by, their monsters' lack of magic resistance made them easy targets for the enemy magic monsters. The damage returned by Lobstradamus was crucial as it severely damaged enemies. Lobstradamus withstood many attacks while its allies slowly destroyed the enemy lineup, winning the battle.
