Welcome to my home page, is nice having you around, just read down to see my thoughts on foraging and homesteading.
Getting my pumpkin seed ready
Homesteading was our means of survival while growing up, we learned a lot about foraging and homesteading. In fact, we saw the great benefits that come with homesteading, we had so many live stocks, and no matter how little, homesteading and foraging save a whole lot.
Imagine that you want to prepare a pot of soup and you were able to get some vegetables and pepper from your little garden that will be able to save some $$ for you.
But foraging and homesteading involves quality time, financial assistance and also skill.
Unfortunately, the economy and financial system today are not smiling, things are becoming more expensive, and that emphasizes the need for everyone who has space, no matter how little, to plant some vegetables or other things they will always need.
There are so many other benefits that come with homesteading.
Lately, it was announced that people who produce food known as fufu in Nigeria have been using detergent to process this food to get it ready earlier than they should, and this has caused health problems for so many people.
Anyone who can produce such food from the comfort of their home will not be a victim of such health challenges that affect people who buy food from unknown sources.
Many vegetables in the Nigerian market are planted with fertilizers, which is not really good for the body because they want the vegetables to grow so fast, but with natural manure it might take time, but I will give you healthy vegetables.
Currently, in my hometown, people gather flocks not just for themselves but also for people out there in the market, and because just a few practices foraging live stocks are very expensive in the market helping the few to make more money.
Most homesteaders make thousands of dollars every year, and gradually, this practice brings them closer to financial freedom.
My little way of practicing homesteading.
Yes, I practice homesteading, and it has really saved me a whole lot for me.
I love doing things for myself and saving some money, tho living in the city I still have a little space where I plant ☘️ some vegetables and also plant yam and other things.
Yams ready for planting.
Most times, for those plants to survive, I will have to water the plants daily. This will help them not to dry off when the weather is too hot.
I already have my soil filled with manure, and that's where I will plant some vegetables like pumpkin seeds, water leaf (Talinum triangular), spinach, tomatoes, and 🌶️ pepper.
To succeed, I had plans on how to take care of those plants, and that required time and consistency, I already got this skill from my parents and its not a big deal for me anymore.
First, I had to clear up the space and get the soil ready by wetting it for some time since the soil was very dry, this would help the plants to have more nutrients to grow.
Then I have to prepare the pumpkin seeds by removing them from the pod and drying them on the sun just for a little while before planting them.
In the next five to seven days they will sprout and I will be ready to weed and take care of them.
Conclusively, I believe that foraging and homesteading are the best ways to assist life, and they can also help one to eat healthy food and remain healthy, they can also help one to attain financial freedom.
