2 days ago i posted a short video with Helios lens mod, today i wanted to test the lens on a full frame camera. Well all i have is a 15 year old 5d Classic.
I thought that it will be harder to focus (lens only has manual focusing) because 5d does not have live view so no focus peaking, but i was surprised, on u full frame, if you are fairly close to the subject, focusing is pretty ok.
| Camera | Lens | Shutter speed | F-stop | ISO | flash | modifier |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canon 5D | Helios 44m-4 | 1/125sec. | f/2.0 | 100 | off | non |

On f/2.0 bokeh is just crazy, and everything that is not centered is just, well :)

At f/5.6 you get more sharpness in the middle of the frame, and bokeh looks, well a bit more like classic bokeh, but still crazy

Could you get a decent shot of a moving subject? Well not really if it is your cat that does not want to cooperate.

You could bribe him with food, but he does not care.

You could probably get sharp subject by focus stacking, and that requires a tripod, still subject, will power and time :)
Most fun from this lens you get when the light shines to the lens but goes through something.
Could you guess what is the background of this photos?
To get all this craziness i flipped the front and back glass on the lens. It is easy. First time you may need 15-20 min as the lens is old and needs a bit effort to screw stuff off, but now i could flip it in 5.
