Hello everyone
Greetings to you all from this part of the world, I hope you are doing great with your creativity, I find so much pleasure in sewing, I guess it's my best way to relieve myself from boredom, it really gives me great joy to see what I made on people so I don't really mind doing this everyday just to put a smile on people's faces as well.
I make different projects from pieces of fabric and that has helped my sewing skills a lot. Today I decided to make a pen holder for my niece as a simple gift for her school, I believe this will help to secure and keep her pen safe, this pen holder is very easy and simple to make and it's very useful as well. Just as the guys have a chest pocket for their pen, this can also be used by the ladies who don't have a side chest pocket to hang their pen.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process of this simple project.
From a plain pieces of fabric, I cut out 6.5 x 5.5"
I cut out a soft interfacing and ironed it on the wrong side.
It was folded in two on the wrong side as I marked 1.5 and 2" from the edge and curved it together.
The shape was trimmed off to give me my desired shape for the pen holder.
I cut out 1.5 x 1.5" from the pieces left, I folded it to the middle and then in half and sew it on both sides.
It was folded in two and placed at the middle of the right side of the fabric, I sew on the side round, leaving an opening by the side to be turned inside out.
From the base, I measured 4" upward on both sides then I top stitched on the curve from one end to the other, the curve edge was folded to the other side and it was sewn together by the side and base.
I cut out a long bais strip of 28" it was folded in two and sewn together to make a rope for the pen holder, it was inserted to the loop and sewn together at the tip, that was all.
This is the final and beautiful outcome of the pen holder I made for my niece as a gift from left over fabric. I hope you like the beautiful outcome of it, it is very simple and easy to make.
