Hello hiveians
In making a complete outfit of skirt and blouse using same fabric, the first thing I usually begin with is the skirt part while the remaining fabric will be used to cut out other part of the outfit.
Since yesterday, we have been without electricity supply and this has made my work to be a bit slow because there is nothing or little I can do without power supply and the cutting and sewing process needs to be ironed but thank God, I was able to complete the skirt part before the power went off.
In cutting the skirt front part, the Ankara fabric was folded in two using my client's measurement plus seam allowance and the vertical measurement as well as the horizontal measurement were marked on the fabric to give me the body shape of my client and it was cut out.
The back part was cut out by placing the front on a folded fabric with allowance of 1.5" for the zipper allowance and 2" for the vent slit.
Both the front and back were placed on a matching lining to cut out same shape but with a deduction of 2" at the hem to turn it inside out for neat finishing.
The front and back were neatly sewn together and I added the zipper at the back after the dart has been taken and finally my client's straight skirt is ready.
