"La villa fue fundada por el rey Don Dinis en 1313, en plena era de la Reconquista, la cual fue iniciada por Don Afonso Henriques. Muchas zonas del Alentejo estuvieron bajo el dominio árabe desde el siglo VIII hasta los siglos XII y XIII. The city was founded by King Dinis in 1313 in the midst of the war of reconquests that began Don Alfonso Henriques. Many areas of the Alentejo were under Arab rule from the 8th to the 11th centuries. "Esta iglesia es considerada el mejor exponente de la arquitectura manuelina y mudéjar. Tiene un diseño de estilo real y fue proyectada por Diogo de Arruda. Presenta una temática rural muy alentejana con pinturas de lobos, ovejas y pastores. Fue edificada en el siglo XVI, cuenta con un revestimiento de azulejos del siglo XVII y, por fuera, llama mucho la atención por sus pináculos cónicos únicos."🌏🏰

This church is considered the finest example of Manueline and Mudéjar architecture. Its Royal style design was created by Diogo de Arruda. It features a rural Alentejo theme with paintings of wolves, sheep, and shepherds. Built in the 16th century, it boasts 17th-century tilework and is particularly striking for its unique conical pinnacles.🤴🏻🙇🏻‍♀️

"El pueblo está aislado en cierta manera, pero es muy completo. Hay más de cuatro restaurantes abiertos hasta las 14:00. Nosotros visitamos la Taberna da Maria, ya que vimos que tenía buenas reseñas. Gastamos 38 euros para dos personas adultas, lo que nos pareció un precio decente. Probamos la carne de cerdo a la alentejana, cuya proteína es cerdo sazonado con especias mezclado con almejas; las migas, que son una preparación a base de pan; una sopa de gallina como entrada y dos cervezas." 🌏🏰

The town is somewhat isolated but very complete, there are more than 4 restaurants open until 2pm, we visited the: "Taberna da Maria" which we saw had good reviews, for 2 adults we spent 38 euros, which seemed like a decent price, we tried the Alentejo meat, whose protein is pork with spices and vegetables mixed with clams, the Migas which is a mixture made with bread, a chicken soup as a starter, and two beers.🍲🥘

The strangest castle in Portugal🧭🤴🏻 / El castillo mas extrano de Portugal🏰

"De los 52 castillos que he visitado hasta ahora, para mí este es el más extraño. Mi primera impresión es que tiene sentido que a sus torres las llamen 'sombreros de bruja', jeje, porque guardan una gran similitud. No parece una estructura muy resistente a pesar de que sus murallas son las típicas de una fortaleza bélica románica; sin embargo, nunca entró en combate y tuvo fines administrativos. Tiene dos iglesias dentro y no está construido en una colina, algo muy poco habitual en un castillo típico portugués. Todas estas características lo convierten en el castillo más raro que he visitado."🤴🏻🙇🏻‍♀️

Of the 52 castles I've visited so far, this is the strangest one for me! My first impression is that the towers, which they call "witch hats" (and it makes sense, haha, because they have a resemblance), don't seem like a very sturdy structure despite its walls being typical of a Romanesque military fortress. However, it never saw combat; it served administrative purposes, has two churches inside, and isn't built on a hill, which is very unusual for a typical Portuguese castle. All these characteristics make it the strangest castle I've ever visited.🌏🚙

And finally, the popular Alentejo bullfights, which are among the main festivals that maintain the culture of the people; here the bull is not harmed.🏰📍
