A pleasant bright day outside. I am feeling a lot better so I decided to go out and breathe some fresh air. It felt very refreshing. The wind still feels a little too cold to me, but it is bearable. I stood beside a pillar watching the turn orange. It is an incredible view no matter where you are. The floor sweeper made for a fitting "white noise" to add to the scene.
Today, in the morning, the kids and their guardians were taken on a tour. From what I heard from the kids, it was really "cool". I think it was a pretty good tour because I didn't see most of the guardians during lunch. They must have gone to bed as soon as they came back. Tomorrow, there are a few events planned. One is from a nearby church. They also extended an invitation to me. I am not a Christian and they made it very clear my religious beliefs didn't matter, the event was for all.
I found something very similar in a nearby Masjid today. I went to this Masjid for Iftaar today after watching the sky change colors. It is just a few minutes away from the shelter. It was very heartwarming to sit among others who were fasting and waiting to break the fast like we are all equal. Very quickly I was having really great conversations with the people near me.
Just like the Church, the Masjid also has a special quota for food and clothes that are sent to Ukraine and to the refugees in the area or nearby. There was one person I met who has given his apartments to Ukrainians to live until they need to. I was later told to bring Ukrainians to the Masjid if anyone wanted to come by and they'd make a special place for the ladies, too.
After the prayer a few people tried to invite me into their homes, one person told me they could bring a "truckload" of toys and clothes for children and women if needed. They then sent me off with a crate of food. Fresh fruit, chicken fillets, potatoes wedges, salads, and whatnot. It was a nice thing to bring back and distribute. One guy went and got a box of rocher ferreros for the children because it is Easter. It is safe to say that box vanished as quickly as it appeared in front of the kids haha.
I guess not much difference. No matter the religion or beliefs, during trying times only love prevails. The church welcomes me even if I am not a Christian and the Masjid does the same for those who are not Muslims. Today was a very good day. Lots of happy emotions. Lots of inspiration and hope. As long we stick together things will look bright.
