It's HAMMER TIME! ๐จ๐ช๐ป
We've always seen in fantasy shows how Dwarven warriors forge the best weapons and fight using their Mighty Hammers. This particular character isn't a Dwarf, but utilises a hammer very similar to them nonetheless.
The theme of this week's Share Your Battle Challenge - I give you the ARMORSMITH! ๐จ๐ช๐ป
Raised hauling stones in the Quarries of Korlax, the Armorsmiths of Khymeria are considerably tougher than they appear. Even the burly Boatmen who work the shipyards can barely lift the hammer of a Khymian Armorsmith. Much to the dismay of the Order of the Silver Shield, their hammers are used more for repair than destruction. When summoned to battle, the Armorsmiths do plenty of damage, even without formal fighting skills.
๐จ๐ช๐ปFrom Splinterlands Lore on ARMORSMITH๐จ๐ช๐ป
The Armorsmith is a Promo card released way back in the day. It has definitely found it's place in many Life decks given its availability and usefulness. At LEVEL 1, it has 0 โ๏ธATTACKโ๏ธ and 2 ๐๐ปSPEED๐๐ป, with 0 ๐ก๏ธARMOR๐ก๏ธ and 2 โค๏ธHEALTHโค๏ธ. It has the REPAIR ability. It's summoning cost is also on the low range at just 2 ๐งชMANA๐งช.
These stats does make the Armorsmith is some weakling with no ability to attack and barely any HP to take a hit.
The Armosmith's true strength lies in it's ability REPAIR. It allows the unit to repair the armor of any other unit in your team! ๐ฑ All of a sudden, all you units have suddenly gained a huge increase in their durability against physical damage. This could make all the difference if the battle comes down to the wire where the slightest advantage is the fine line between victory or defeat! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
The release of Promo cards from ESSENCE ORBS has given the Life splinter a really unique card in the Armorsmith. It is the FIRST ranged unit in the entire LIFE lineup in the game to get the REPAIR ability.
Of course, since then, quite a few other cards available to LIFE have this REPAIR skill now. The most recent Chaos Legion expansion has it's most recent "competitors" in the Scavo Hireling and Adelade Brightwing. However, they both cost MORE than the Armorsmith and in the case of the Scavo Hireling, it is even more fragile! This ensures that the Pelacor Arbalest will definitely have it's own place here in all Life decks. This is definitely what I'd consider game changing! ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ
๐Card Stats by Level๐
As we can see here, the main purpose of the Armorsmith is simply it's REPAIR ability. It's stats improve slightly across the board as it levels up. At lv 3 onwards, it even gains the ability to deal some melee damage. This isn't anything game changing, but every little bit adds up over the length of a battle.

โ๏ธ๐กMy Battle Showcase๐กโ๏ธ
Let me present a battle I fought recently in which I used the Armorsmith. My opponent used the FIRE splinter while I went for the LIFE splinter. ๐ฅ VS ๐ผ๐ป
At first glance, this would seem like I was doomed. In terms of Summoner and unit levels, it was as lopsided as any game could ever be.
The opponent was using a level 4 Tarsa as his Summoner! ๐คฏ๐ฑ๐ต
Most of his units were maxed out for the League level we were fighting in (Silver) whereas my units were all at level 1 except for the Arsmith, which was slightly higher at level 3 ๐ . (but since the Armorsmith's role isn't to attack, his level is a moot point anyway ๐คฃ)
This put ALL my units at an enormous level disparity.
Clearly, in terms of card rarity and card strength, this looked like a lost cause ๐๐คฃ. Would I be able to turn the tide of battle against such an opponent then? Victory or defeat would lie in the small details.
I would say that the Armorsmith was DEFINITELY the MVP of this match, having played it's role in turning the tide of battle. It showcased it amazing ability to REPAIR the Armor of any unit that was targeted by the opponent and in doing so, gave them an amazing amount of lasting power that was unmatched. In fact, the Armorsmith did it's job so well that the opponent did not even manage to reduce the health of ANY of my units at all!!! ๐ฏโค๏ธ
This ensured that the other units could eventually wear down the opponent until victory was achieved! ๐๐๐
LINK TO FIGHT WITH MY ARMORSMITH
๐ฏโโ๏ธ๐ฏ๐ฏโโ๏ธLINEUP CHOICES๐ฏโโ๏ธ๐ฏ๐ฏโโ๏ธ
1st CARD SLOT
The Hero of Beyond takes the role of the Main Tank in the first slot here. It will be the most important role since the backline will fall if the Main Tank goes.
His CLOSE RANGE ability, in tandem with General Sloan as my Summoner pick, allows him to deal his Ranged attacks even though he is at the front of the lineup.
2nd CARD SLOT
The Creeping Ooze fills this slot. It's role is simply to debuff the opponents with it's SLOW ability. Since it has only 1 HP, should the main tank fall, it is just a sacrificial unit to buy some time by taking 1 hit.
3rd CARD SLOT
The Truthspeaker takes this slot. Protected in the middle, it's job is to give all the units a +2 Armor buff with it's PROTECT ability. This works out perfectly in tandem with the Armorsmith's REPAIR.
4th CARD SLOT
The Armorsmith occupies the 4th slot. It's job is to REPAIR the Armor of any unit which takes a physical damage hit. Putting it in the middle here also keeps it safe.
5th CARD SLOT
The Halfling Alchemist occupies this slot. It's role is deal a bit of DPS from the backline. However, the more important skill it brings to the battlefield is it's HALVING ability which halves the attacks of any unit it hits.
6th CARD SLOT
The Air Elemental occupies the last slot. It's role is to deal it's Ranged DPS from the backline. It's very high speed and HP will also allow it to provide some form of anti-sneak defense.
โ๏ธ๐กBattle Action Report๐กโ๏ธ
As you can see, both of us fielded very different decks from different splinters. It's a battle of Holy warriors against Fiery Barbarians! ๐
๐ผ๐ป LIFE ๐ผ๐ป VS ๐ฅ FIRE ๐ฅ.
My opponent used the Antoid Platoon as his main tank in the 1st slot which is an AMAZING choice, given how suitable it is as a tank especially with it's SHIELD ability. His Scavo Hireling was placed in the 2nd slot, where it would serve as a backup tank whilst also using it's REPAIR ability to increase the tanking ability of the Main Tank. The 3rd and 4th slots were occupied by his Uraeus and Tenyii Striker, both of which were SNEAK DPS units meant to devastate my backline. A Scorch Fiend and Furious Chicken filled up his last 2 slots, ostensibly as an anti sneak defense too.
My choice of the Main Tank was the Hero from Beyond which would make a great Tank with it's stats and CLOSE RANGE ability. It was followed by the Creeping Ooze in the 2nd slot who would be my sacrificial 1 hit backup tank whilst also debuffing the opponent with it's SLOW ability. The 3rd and 4th slots were occupied by the Truthspeaker and Armorsmith. Their abilities complemented each other with one providing the armor and the other repairing it. The next 2 slots were filled out with my Ranged DPS units.
The battle started out with all our units just duking it out pound for pound. It was a pretty low mana ruleset with 24 mana as the limit.
The first wave ended up with no units dying! Although, this shouldn't really come as a surprise seeing as how defensive minded both our teams were set up to be.
The 2nd round was again a stalemate with both sides unable to actually penetrate past each other's constantly repaired armor.
Round 3 finally saw a breakthrough when I managed to grind down the opponent's Antoid Platoon Main Tank. All my focused DPS on the front unit had paid off. Whereas, the opponent's split damage with his SNEAK attacks failed to deal enough meaningful damage before my Armorsmith activated his REPAIR.
The next few rounds were the beginning of the end for my opponent. With his main tank down, his units were simply destroyed one after the other. Ever bit of DPS he lost also reduced the pressure on my Armorsmith who was more than able of "over healing" the armor loss each round.
Talk about doing WAY MORE than it was supposed to!!! ๐ฑ๐คฏ๐ฅณ All I expected was for the Armorsmith to play it's part in repairing and prolonging the durability of my units. Yet it did more than that and completely shut down ALL the DPS capabilities of the opponent's team! ๐ช๐ป
The battle ended up being an amazing UNDERDOG VICTORY with my vastly outmatched team somehow managing to score an upset win! And it wasn't just a minor upset, but a PERFECT victory with not even a single HP lost with ALL my Armor also FULLY RESTORED by the end! Surely that made it the Man of the Match for this battle, punching way above it's weight! ๐ฏ
Well as you can see here in this GIF of my battle, the results were pretty good! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
This was truly an eye opener! ๐๐
Slowly, but surely, I wore down the opponent's team and the match was won dominantly! My team selection proved to be the edge I needed to eventually overpower my opponent. ๐ช๐ป
๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎHindsight is 20/20๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ
Would I have done anything differently? ๐ค This might have seemed like a match that would prove to be a challenge at the start because of the vast disparity in levels. However, with my completely unexpected underdog upset win, IF I had to use the same cards again, there would be no better lineup than what I had already used for the match. Any other combination MIGHT have resulted in a loss for me. I'm really satisfied with the results against such a worthy opponent. ๐๐ฅ
๐ญ๐ง๐ญEnding Thoughts๐ญ๐ง๐ญ
I definitely can appreciate the Armorsmith and it's strengths. This is one of those cards which are very strong if surrounded with the proper team. The role it brings to the battlefield will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. ๐๐ป
