(Instead of writing about the Regal Peryton, I've decided to write about Jared Scar instead. I've had a battle which showcases his ridiculous killing and bloodlust ability and it would be a waste not to share this instead. ๐ฑ)
Jared Scar was born three hundred years ago, in a small town in Praetoria. His mother was a wealthy Ulund and lived a lavish lifestyle, coveting things that either others couldnโt afford or that shouldnโt be possessed. Her reckless life led to a number of encounters with undesirable characters, like Jaredโs father. She had no idea he was a vampire when they spent that night together. She never heard from him again after that night, and then eight months later she gave birth to Jared.

Jared Scar is a Legendary Reward card released during the Chaos Legion expansion. I'd daresay it's the mainstay of MANY Life decks. At level 1, it has 5 MELEE ATTACK and 2 SPEED, with 2 ARMOR and 4 HEALTH. He also has the BLOODLUST ability.
These stats alone make Jared Scar an extremely high DPS unit albeit with rather low stats defensively. He feels like a glass canon unit except that being a melee unit, it is even more dangerous for him as he has to be on the frontlines.
Jared Scar's true strength lies in it's BLOODLUST ability, which increases ALL his stats every time he kills a unit! At 7 MANA cost, it is quite an expensive card to use, but it's offensive firepower makes it well worth the cost! I would consider this card ALMOST BROKENLY OVERPOWERED (in the correct situations) and definitely in the HIGHEST TIER of all Splinterland cards! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
The release of this Rewards edition card has given the LIFE splinter it's first non-gladius Bloodlust unit. Once Jared Scar gets in a hit and kills a unit. He's just going to get stronger and faster and more unkillable. Like an unstoppable avalanche, once he gets going, its game over.

As we can see here, the main purpose of Jared Scar is to be an attacking force who hits and destroys everything in his path. Stats wise, his attack and hp gets higher at higher levels, reinforcing it's ability to do what it does best! At levels 2 and above, he gains TRUE STRIKE and PIERCING, turning him into an even better killer and making it easier than ever for him to activate his bloodlust.

Let me present a battle I fought recently in which I used Jared Scar. My opponent ALSO used the LIFE splinter just as I did ๐ฑ.
This wasn't any battle between opposing factions but a CIVIL WAR?! Blood against Blood, the Forces of Light clashing with each other! Who would come out victorious at the end of this titanic battle between the heavenly hosts? ๐ผ๐ป VS ๐ผ๐ป
It was pretty much an even match between both of us as we used similarly levelled units.
Both of us used an ALL PHYSICAL DPS lineup of units.
Even some of our unit choices overlapped (no surprise there given it was a mirror LIFE Splinter fight).
Given our similar levels, I had expected this to be a close fight.
My opponent fielded a mostly Ranged DPS team, just as I did.
I went for a more defensive approach while the opponent went for an all out DPS blitz.
I would say that Jared Scar was DEFINITELY one of the MVPs of this match, having played a big role in turning the tide of battle. It's BLOODLUST ability allowed it to destroy everything in it's path as it reliably held the frontlines for most of the fight. Not only that, it basically SOLO-ed the entire battle by killing every single unit on it's own! ๐ฑ
This ensured that the other units could eventually wear down the opponent until victory was achieved! ๐๐๐

1st CARD SLOT
Jared Scar takes the role of the Main Tank in the first slot here. It will be the most important role since the backline will fall if the Main Tank goes.
Normally, it wouldn't be such a wise idea to put him at the front given his low health pool. However, as this was an EQUALIZER ruleset, I was almost certain he would be tough enough to face the opponent ๐.
2nd CARD SLOT
The Truthspeaker occupies this slot. It's main purpose is to buff the team defensively with it's PROTECT ability which gives everyone +2 Armour.
3rd CARD SLOT
The Armorsmith occupies slot number 3. His main role is to simply REPAIR the ARMOR of any unit who has taken damage. This will improved the survivability of my team considerably (assuming the opponent fields a physical instead of magic damage team ๐ )
4th CARD SLOT
The Venari Crystalsmith sits here protected in the middle. It's job is to HEAL the Tank. Like I mentioned, Jared Scar does require quite a bit of backup defensively, given how much of a DPS focused unit he is.
5th CARD SLOT
The Pelacor Arbalest sits safely in slot number 5. With it's DOUBLESTRIKE ability, he's undoubtedly one of the main heavy hitters in the DPS department. As long as he stays alive, he'll wreck havoc on the enemy with his hard hitting attacks.
6th CARD SLOT
The Prismologist occupies the last slot. It's ARMOR will provide some defense against SNEAK attacks if any.
Similar to the Arbalest before it, it's main role is also to deal a huge amount of DPS with its damaging Ranged attacks. It even has the BLAST ability to spread the damage to surrounding units.

As you can see, both of us fielded REALLY VERY SIMILAR decks! We even used the SAME LIFE SPLINTERS ๐คฃ. This was a clash between brothers! A civil war in the Heavens!
๐ผ๐ปLIFE๐ผ๐ป VS ๐ผ๐ปLIFE๐ผ๐ป
My opponent used the Shieldbearer as his main tank in the first slot. This is as good a choice as any for a tank. The Shieldbearer has impressive stats and most importantly, he has the TAUNT ability. Anyone who wants to get through to his backline will have to take him out first! ๐ฑ
His other 5 slots were all occupied by RANGED DPS-ers. As I mentioned earlier, my opponent seemed to be going for an all out DPS lineup to overwhelm my defenses and take me out quickly. He also had a Venari Crystalsmith in his 5th slot as a HEALER for his Tank.
Overall, I would say this was a pretty decent lineup.
My choice of the Main Tank was Jared Scar. It is not the usual candidate for a main tank, given his USUALLY low tanking stats. However, with the EQUALIZER ruleset, his HP has been buffed to be on the same level as the Shieldbearer! ๐๐ช
Next, unlike my opponent who went for an all out DPS route, I adopted a 3 prong defensive setup!
First, my Truthspeaker, who buffed my entire team with even more defensive capability via it's PROTECT ability which gives everyone +2 ARMOR. Followed by my Armorsmith, complementing the ARMOR boost with the REPAIR ability, thus ensuring everyone can be a target of the ARMOR restoring REPAIR ability. The Venari Crystalsmith completes the triumvirate with it's TANK HEAL ability. These 3 would ensure my Jared Scar would have the maximum amount of defensive buffs needed to carry out his tanking duties.
My last 2 slots were occupied with the heavy hitting RANGE DPS units, Pelacor Arbalest and Prismologist. Both of them are capable of dishing out a huge amount of damage and will devastate the opponent if left unchecked. ๐น๐ฅ
The battle started out with all our units just duking it out pound for pound. It was a high mana game with 48 mana as the limit. The rulesets were SILENCED SUMMONERS and EQUALIZER.
The 1st wave saw the opponent releasing his entire barrage of RANGED DPS on me, but thanks to my defensive lineup, I survived unscathed!
What's more, having taken a barrage of damage from my own Ranged attackers, the opponent's Shieldbearer was left weakened enough for my Jared Scar to land a KILL and thus activated his BLOODLUST!
This set off a chain effect as my Jared Scar proceeded to slaughter EACH AND EVERY (well all except for 1) unit with a SINGLE BLOW as he grew stronger and stronger!
As the opponent lost more and more DPS, they lost any capability of penetrating my defensive buffs/heals/repairs.
It was ALL OVER at this point as everyone was exposed to a crazily BLOODLUSTED Jared Scar who landed 5 out of 6 KILLING BLOWS! ๐ช
Talk about doing WAY MORE than it was supposed to!!! ๐ฑ๐คฏ๐ฅณ All I expected from Jared Scar was for it to be a DPS unit. Yet it did more than that and lasted through the entire battle AND did so by scoring almost every single KILL! Surely that made it the Man of the Match for this battle, punching way above it's weight! Not to mention I ended the game with ZERO casualties as the defense held strong!

This was truly an eye opener! ๐๐
Slowly, but surely, I wore down the opponent's team and the match was won handily with my entire team intact. My team selection proved to be the edge I needed to eventually overpower my opponent. ๐ช๐ป

Would I have done anything differently? ๐ค This might have seemed like a match that would prove to be a challenge at the start because of how evenly levelled both our teams were. However, with my dominant VICTORY, IF I had to use the same cards again, there would be no better lineup than what I had already used for the match. Any other combination MIGHT have resulted in a loss for me. I'm really satisfied with the results against such a worthy opponent. ๐๐ฅ

I definitely can appreciate Jared Scar and it's strengths. This is one of those cards which are very strong if surrounded with the proper team. The role it brings to the battlefield will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. ๐๐ป
