In this post, we will take a look at three different deck styles and what kind of player may fit best for each deck. The three styles we will discuss are Aggro, Balanced, and End Game/Card Draw. Based on a player's inherent style of play, time to invest in the game, focus on earnings compared to winning, and budget to invest will all play into what deck will work best for them. It is important for a player to recognize this early so as to avoid any unnecessary purchases that may prove wasteful in the future. Without further delay, let us get into it beginning with Aggro decks.
Aggro
The win condition for this play style is to defeat your opponent as quickly as possible usually within five or six turns. The reason behind this is due to curve of your deck, time effecient, and generally more budget conscious. Aggro is probably the easiest style to pick up as you hope to go first in the matchup and basically hit the opponent's god quickly and often while trying to maintain board control. Almost every God has an aggro style or one that gains traction in the meta however war and deception are my choices for gods with the best kits for aggro styles.
Balanced
This is my personal play style and has really been enjoyable after switching from an aggro style early on. The biggest down side to aggro decks is that you lose quickly and have no ability to recover if you do not get set up within the first few turns. Yes this is time efficient, however it is nice to make a comeback every once in awhile. That is where a balanced deck comes into play. No matter whether you go first or second you have a chance to win if you understand your win condition correctly. Someone you enjoys the strategy side of the game is attracted to this play style as well as someone who likes playing a unique deck configuration that may not be currently in the meta. Lastly, there is a chance you can break through the 55% win rate that a lot of good aggro decks have and push higher to 65% which offsets the extra time taken. Zombie death and big beast nature are examples of balanced decks in my opinion that can offer a clear win condition and have recovery cards if they fall behind early in the match.
End Game/Card Draw
Mythic players and some of the best players in the game love these decks. This is the style used by someone who cares about being the best player around and competes in tournaments. It is also a style that needs a bit larger budget bag as well given you will constantly be playing meta cards. Games for BWD or control magic can take upwards of 30 minutes at times which means you will need greater time to play the game in order to gain similar rewards for an aggro or balanced player. Skill is key here as the best player almost always wins and RNG is less of a problem when good players face each other using these end game decks.
If you would like examples of the decks mentioned above, GUdecks is a great resource to use in order to gain specific card data on the different play styles.
