This simple and so generous idea. Invitation to go for a walk! The invitation to look around and look for something worth sharing with others. Through words and images. Thank you, ! The connoisseurs already know that it is Wednesday again, the chosen day.
Walking can be like eating, like a certain kind of food that we can eat many times without getting bored of it. I meant that I can walk through the same place many times with the same pleasure, each time, and always discover new images and experiences. As it happens now, when I walked through the most attractive park in Bucharest. Herastrau Park!
The second river crossing the city has been transformed into a succession of lakes. Larger or smaller lakes, many of them have been incorporated into parks and Herastrau Park has the largest lake in the middle of it. This is the main reason why I choose, most of the time and at least once a week, to walk along the lakeshore.
The path that surrounds the lake is almost 5 km long and so I know the minimum distance covered without having to use step-counting apps. Any walk through Herastrau helps me to get the necessary amount of steps to maintain a certain state of health.
The lake is the one that always delights me, I love the water and the distance from the sea makes me sad. This lake is like a kind of medicine against longing for the sea. Especially since the park has a small island!
It is a small artificial island. Full of vegetation and probably some water creatures. I don't know that we don't have access to the island and that's fine. Looks to me like a small plateau full of virgin vegetation.
Only fishermen come near the island.
I mentioned fishermen. Where there is water and fish there must be fishermen. This lake was populated with fish, especially carp. It was a business of politicians. A bad business, because you can't farm fish in a recreational area. When these politicians lost power, they lost the lake. They also lost the fish, which remained in the lake.
That's how the fishermen ended up in the park. There are two kinds of fishermen. Professional fishermen, employed by the park administration, fish because it's their job...
The most numerous are amateur fishermen.
Fishermen are strange people, in my opinion. I have to say, I used to love fishing in my youth.
Fishermen are lonely people, living in their own world. It seems that way from a distance. They ignore the fact that they're in a park and don't seem to mind all the walkers passing by.
Most of the fishermen come here for the passion of fishing. It is more convenient to come to the park than to look for lakes outside the city. Probably most are looking for the peace and quiet they don't have at home.
Others don't find this peace here either because they are accompanied...
... and others, simply come for the food. They catch something to eat. Free food. Sad, but true!
I would never fish in these conditions. For me, when I fished many years ago, fishing was a way to isolate myself and be alone with my thoughts. It would be impossible for me to fish among people walking around...
On the other hand, when I was fishing I was caught between two feelings. The joy of making a catch but also the sadness of killing a being.
Unfortunately, the joy was greater when I caught something. Now I'm glad that I gave up this hobby.
Since the beginning of mankind people have been hunters, fishermen and farmers. Thus they ensured the survival of our species. Because of this, all humans have these skills written somewhere in their genes.
I met so many fishermen on my walk. Fortunately, I also saw people enjoying this lake in other ways. Without killing anything...
I think kayaking is a pleasure. Another pleasure I've passed by that I don't think I'll try. I'm glad when I see others... but most of all I enjoy nature!
Autumn is getting ready for leaf coloring. A great colorful show will follow. Autumn walks fill your eyes and soul with colors!
