US to ban Chinese tech in cars
"Officials said they were worried that the technology in question, used for autonomous driving and to connect cars to other networks, could allow enemies to "remotely manipulate cars on American roads"
[...] “Cars today have cameras, microphones, GPS tracking, and other technologies connected to the internet," she said in a statement.
"It doesn’t take much imagination to understand how a foreign adversary with access to this information could pose a serious risk to both our national security and the privacy of US citizens.""
--- Mind you, the CCP doesn't allow access to numerous official sites in China if you're driving a Tesla. The CCP knows what you can do with these modern cars & is most probably already using internet-connected Chinese cars to spy elsewhere.
"“China opposes the US’s broadening of the concept of national security and the discriminatory actions taken against Chinese companies and products,” said Lin Jian, spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry“"
--- Says the country which has been doing exactly that for decades.
"“We urge the US side to respect market principles and provide an open, fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises.”"
China stimulus calls are growing louder — inside and outside the country
"To restore confidence and stabilize the property market, Xu said that policymakers should bail out the property owners.
“The current policy to stabilize the property market is clearly not enough,” he said, noting the sector likely needs support at the scale of 3 trillion yuan, versus the roughly 300 billion yuan announced so far."
--- Most likely won't happen, but - hey - we can keep on dreaming about that stimulus, which has been coming soon - very soon - for years now.
EU challenges China's dairy product probe at WTO
"This is the first time the European Union has taken such action at the start of an investigation, rather than wait for it to result in trade measures against the bloc.
"The EU's action was prompted by an emerging pattern of China initiating trade defense measures, based on questionable allegations and insufficient evidence, within a short period of time," the commission said. "
--- Good. It's quite obvious that China doesn't actually care about the rules, so why give it the benefit of the doubt?
EU sanctions for a conflict around Taiwan: What’s Europe’s leverage against China?
"EU sanctions could prove game-changing to prevent a Chinese aggression against Taiwan. Clear threats of sanctions from Europe would signal to Beijing that the costs of an invasion are even higher than those that Chinese leaders have already priced in."
--- Dubious. The CCP knows how reluctant European countries are when it comes to sanctions. Even the sanctions against Russia are rather half-hearted. There is virtually no deterrent that the EU could credibly leverage.

Also...
