I'm always in search of new blockchain games and just recently came across Wombat Dungeon Master. In this game, you are a puppet master controlling a cute wombat who is into mining valuable minerals in caves.
The game runs both on WAX and EOS. I also managed to connect my Metamask with the Polygon network. I think the benefit of that could be that the end of the season rewards could be paid optionally Matic but I'm not sure about that one.
Hide Your NFTs
The idea is to hide(read stake) your NFTs in the dungeon. Then you send your wombat down to search for them. You can choose the time period which your wombat spends in the dungeon and they vary from 5 minutes to 24 hours. Once the wombat returns you'll get points that are added to your season points which are paid to your connected wallet after the season ends.
Worthless NFTs?
I have tons of NFTs on WAX that once had some value and some that never had any. To my surprise, I noticed even the ones that I thought were worthless, had indeed value in Dungeon Master. And that is mining power. Each NFT you hide in the dungeon has different mining power which depends, I guess, on the rarity and the series of the card.
Daily Treasure
When the wombat descents into the dungeon it is called a run. These runs contribute points to the daily treasure chest. The amount of points depends on your mining power, the time spent, and how your wombat is equipped. There is also a chance you'll draw a pack from the chest.
Equip Your Wombat
Our furry friend can be equipped with all sorts of gadgets. These can be digging tools, glasses, or light sources for example. These tools can increase your contribution, XP, or chance of getting more packs, and so on. They come in different rarities and can merge to gain higher levels.
What Else?
There is also a Well of Wealth which is a seasonal reward program. You'll get rewarded by completing missions such as 'do 50 runs in a day' or 'do a run with a wombat equipped with three items'. The left side of the well is free to play but for rewards on the right side, you will need to buy a season pass.
You can also get the season pass and other perks by staking a $WOMBAT token. Here is a good article about the benefits.
Conclusion
There is that 'beta' text in the Dungeon Master logo but to me, it seems quite finished. The graphics are good and the game runs smoothly although I couldn't open it using Opera Crypto Browser or Brave. With Chrome it's fine.
Wombat Dungeon Master is part three games which I'm grinding at the same time while listening to audiobooks. The other two are Rollercoin and Rising Star. What they all have in common is that you can set the pace which best suits your rhythm.
The best thing of course is that I found a job for my almost forgotten WAX NFTs. Once your wallet is connected, the automatically recognizes which NFTs are eligible for mining so go check it out!
