These porticoes recall the prayer of the Rosary
One of the things I like to do when I go to discover new cities is to find panoramic points from where I can admire the city from above, one of these is the square of the sanctuary of Monte Berico in Vicenza, but to get to this place you have to pass through these porticos, and it is always a beautiful route to do on foot, even if a little tiring.
I recommend this route to all tourists who come to visit the city of Vicenza, and I recommend you do it on foot because in this way you can admire these beautiful Porticoes that were built between 1746 and 1780 based on a project by a very famous architect who built many villas in Vicenza and I'm talking about Francesco Muttoni, think that these Porticoes took about 30 years to build and they are about 700 meters long.
I must say that the facade of this sanctuary is truly beautiful
but when you get to the end of this beautiful path, you find yourself in front of the sanctuary of the Madonna di Monte Berico, a sanctuary that was built around 1400 and is still today a super destination for pilgrims, because it is said that here there was an apparition of the Madonna.
Yesterday, I didn't have so much time to visit the Basilica which I have already visited several times but I invite you, perhaps as tourists, to visit it because there are many very interesting works, among the best Italian painters, but more than anything what I recommend you do is to admire Vicenza from above from this square, if you are lucky as I was, you can see a beautiful panorama of the whole city of Vicenza.
Outside the museum there are some weapons used during the First World War on display
then if you are nearby, and you want to visit a nice museum, there is the museum of the Risorgimento of the Resistance at Villa Guiccioli, you can do an in-depth study of the local history practically from the Risorgimento to the resistance, if I'm not mistaken this museum should be completely free, I only visited in a beautiful park from where a beautiful cycle/pedestrian path starts which practically takes you back down towards the city of Vicenza.
I must say that it is always so nice to come to these places, where they are rich in history and art but above all there are still these parks where you can walk along these paths and breathe some clean air, a piece of advice that I will definitely give you if you come to visit the city of Vicenza, I thank you for reading and I will see you next time
