A Town Between The Sea And Snowy Mountain
This winter in Croatia shown its real character, as the winter should be in these parts of the world. Even though it snows only once in 15 years - this was the occasion. On the following photos you can see my hometown Opatija shot from across the Kvarner bay with a tele lens. With snow Opatija gets very romantic but I don't like the snow and cold. Fortunately, it it snowed only for 1 day and it stayed only for 2-3 days until it melted. I had very few time to capture and so I did it. Unfortunately, I didn't have more time to do a walk photoshoot with different lenses to make some more closer photos.
Opatija is a perfect combination between the warm Adriatic sea and not so high mountains in the background. The clash of those two, cold mountain and warm sea air, creates really unique micro climate.
The highest mountain top behind Opatija is called Učka. There's still a lot of preserved forests and nature all around.
Volosko - an old town and a fisherman village in the right bottom corner and Kosovo - just few not so tall skyscrapers above it.

Opatija has it's smaller parts that all together create the Opatija municipality. The oldest part is Volosko, a small fisherman village directly on the shore. The other parts are Kosovo, Bregi, Kolavići, Veprinac, Poljane...
The upper shot I made with Nikon D800 & Tamron SP 70-300 mm F/4-5.6 Di lens & for the self-portrait below I used the same camera with Nikon AF Nikkor 35-70 mm lens.
