JAPANESE DINNER DATE
I had a long day at work last Saturday. It was also my last day in the clinic that I worked for for almost 4 years. I just recently resigned in the hopes of finding better opportunities and going out of my comfort zone. So I decided to treat myself with my favorite Japanese food! I was craving for Ebi tempura and kept daydreamning eating it whilst working. 🤣 I remembered this restaurant called Samurai Bento and Sushi Bar because my boyfriend brought me here before to take out some maki. So I told him that I want to go back there and I was so happy that I convinced him to have japanese dinner with me! 😆
It is located in a building called Verve Point by the main road in Talamban, Cebu which was easy to locate through googlemaps. It is a pretty small place with only around 4 tables inside but I always see a lot of people eat here. You can also sit at the bar and watch the sushi chef make those yummy rolls of maki and sushi. It is filled with figurines and Japanese calligraphy. In my two visits here, I see this middle age man who goes in and out of the kitchen, helps in serving the food, opens the door for the customers and greets them. I assume he is the owner and I admire business owners who are very hands on and sets an example to his employees in providing customer service.
Their rates are affordable and pretty standard in most Japanese restaurants. They have a lot of food choices to choose for your hungry tummy. Here's their Menu:
I ordered their Ebi Tempura Bento. If you are not familiar, Ebi tempura is a shrimp covered in batter then deep fried in oil. It is served with a dipping sauce called Tentsuyu which has a sweet-salty taste that I really find so savory. I really like putting a lot of sauce in the tempura and eat it with a spoonful of rice! Yum!!! 😋 The bento also had 2 california maki, vegetables, pickled radish and 2 fried gyoza.
My boyfriend ordered Tonkatsu Curry which looked very delicious as well! It is breaded pork chop with Japanese curry sauce. We also decided to order some gyoza and Ebi Tempura Maki. Their drinks are pretty limited to softdrinks, beer and water. So he ordered beer and I just had water since I cannot always drink softdrinks due to my stomach issues. I wish they had more options for drinks like red or lemon iced tea which I always order in other japanese restaurants or some matcha drinks would be nice too. 🤣
WARNING: These pictures will surely make you drool!
I remember during my highschool days, everytime I have good grades at school after each quarter, my mom and stepfather would always ask me what I would like as a reward. I would always say that I want to eat Japanese food. I find Japanese restaurants expensive and it is only when I get good grades that my parents would treat me there that's why I always strive to do my best in school. hahaha it is so easy to make me happy, just feed me some sushi and I'll shut up and be in a good mood. 🤣
Our total bill was only 1,226php or 23.50 USD 🤑 for an oh so good meal! Goodbye money go to my tummy! 🤣
Definitely coming back again when the cravings kick in! 🤣 I would really recommend that you try their Ebi Tempura Maki which is our favorite there! I will teach you a Cebuano word you can use when you eat here in Cebu. You can say "Lami kaayo!" which means it is "Very delicious!" 😁
Visit them if you're around the city. 😍 Catch you again for another LAMI KAAYOOOOO-venture!!!
