Hi there Hivers! How’s everyone doing? It’s me again, with the last part of my trip to Athens, Greece. It took me a week to come up with this post since it’s been a very busy week for me. I hope you like this post!
It was the day after the awarding ceremonies of the competitions. Everyone was in high spirits because of all the awards and medals my students will bring home. The great news: everyone qualified for the Tournament of Champions that will be held in Yale University. Yay!

Not really to celebrate, but as part of our guided tours, we went to Delphi, a town outside of Athens. Besides the Acropolis, Delphi is renowned for being a modern town housing Apollo’s Oracle, an amphitheater and a stadium among many others.
We beat early morning Greek traffic and headed to Mt. Parnassus where Delphi is.
The sights on the way up the mountain is just breathtaking. The houses are none of what I’ve seen before and the mountains were lush and green. We were told that the mountains are snow-filled in winter, and is a popular skiing site. This made me wish we went there in winter as I haven’t seen real snow yet.
Arriving at the foot of the mountain, the sun was beating down on us. The heat of the sun, and the cool mountain breeze was a very comforting combination. I knew this would be a good day of learning.
We went on a trek up the mountain to see the Temple of Apollo and the Temple of Athena.
There were also the ruins of Zeus’s Temple by the Amphitheater.
My students tried to decode the message using Google Translate. Lol.
The ruins tell a story of a functioning society. There were government buildings like the treasury, alongside temples and tombs. There’s an agora or a marketplace. For entertainment, there’s an amphitheater and a stadium. You can just imagine the bustling life atop the mountain.
It was quite a trek going up. By the time we reached the top, it was almost noon.
Then we went inside Delphi Archaeological Museum where we saw some historical artifacts. There were clay tablets, an iron helmet and some busts. I got to take a picture of the sphinx!
We had lunch at a taverna where they served us roast chicken and potatoes. Yum!
