I still cannot believe i am writing my introduction post on this platform. It took a lot of persuasion and self-determination to do this after I had opened an account 10 months ago. Sometimes you just need to take that bold step and trust that all will be fine. At this point now I guess there is no turning back.
I was introduced to this platform by my couz , he told me this is an avenue to improve my writing and creative skills, meet new friends and gain knowledge and experience from others and I look forward to that.
Forgive my manners; my name is Ike Chimamaka Jemimah. I am a native of Umuabi in Udi LGA of Enugu State. I’m the first of my parents’ four children. I was born and raised in Benin City, Edo State along with my other three siblings. I celebrate my birthday on the 11th September every year.
I am a family oriented person, I love my family so much both my immediate and extended. I have quite a large extended family. I love the holidays especially the Christmas holidays when we all travel to the village. It’s always a wholesome experience full of laughter, joy and love, the house is always buzzing with activities coupled with the inside jokes, it’s always an amazing experience. We get to share what we all brought with one another and it’s really fun. My name Jemimah is in honour of my maternal grandmother. I’m so happy I was able to enjoy her company and that of my paternal grandmother before they died; they were such amazing women I still miss them till today. I never got to meet my grandfathers though but from the stories I heard about them they were great men and they loved their families as well.
My hobbies are: Singing, Sleeping, Eating, Learning new skills/things, Chatting with friends and having intelligent conversations.
I have always loved music from my childhood it’s one of the things that keeps me happy all the time I have so much passion for it. I love songs that carry a meaning, you know that pass a message or teach a life lesson. I have been a singer from my childhood; I was in the choir way back in Children Church (or Children Sunday school as we used to call it). I also admired my great aunt anytime I saw her sitting in the choir seat with the rest of the choir. She was and still is an inspiration to me and I wanted to be like her when I grew older. Fortunately, she took me with her on choir rehearsal days and it was so amazing watching her and the other choristers sing. When I was old enough I graduated to adult church and also joined the adult/main choir it was like a dream come through and I hope to continue serving as a chorister for the rest of my life no matter where I find myself in the world. I’m also interest in improving my singing skills as well as learning at least one instrument.
I also love my sleep, I don’t joke with it and that’s on period! I’m a light sleeper and any slight sound or movement can wake me up so that moment when I fall asleep or that time I get to sleep is really important.
Another hobby of mine is eating. I love food sooooo much and the funniest part is that it doesn’t show on my body. I’m a slim person, my cousins and siblings always use that as a joke. I have earned a lot of nicknames including; lekpa, agbani, slimmie, slim bullet e.t.c.
I’m a graduate of the University Of Benin (UNIBEN) where I studied Medical Physiology. Initially, I wanted to study Nursing but was given Physiology instead. As the days rolled by, I started enjoying the course; it brought many amazing people my way among who are my closest friends and buddies. I can proudly say now that I’m a physiologist. I still hope to study Nursing someday, I love the course passionately. Currently I'm serving my Fatherland as a Corper in Rivers State and I'm loving every moment of it.
Currently in Nigeria, it is not advisable and illogical to depend on just your certificate so I have armed myself with a few skills including; tailoring, baking and bead making.
I started learning how to sew during the COVID-19 period, when my school went to strike. I had wondered how it will be styling myself and just playing with fabrics and also as a slim girl it’s quite hard to get exactly what you want. I have had a lot of disappointments before so I decided to learn how to sew.
I also learned how to bake out of interest and it turned out amazing. I’m glad I’m able to put smiles on the faces of family and friends on their special day, it’s really fulfilling.
Sometimes I just go back and read books and stories I have read before, I can’t stay a day without reading something even if it’s a scrambled piece of paper.
I’m an introvert or extrovert depending on whom I’m with. In my opinion, I’m a calm, loving, nice and kind person. I’m a funny, loyal and diehard friend, if you come at any of my friends or family, you’ll have me to contend with. Most of all, I’m always full of joy.
I promise to continue sharing my experiences, opinions and amazing content on this platform.
I'm fully aware that this is a place to learn, teach, form amazing relationships and make a little something on the way and I am excited for everything to come. I hope it beats my expectations.
But importantly, let's all have fun!
Thanks, Shalom.❤️
