Today was another typical day here at Puerto Escondido. Here is the view I wake up to everyday staying at Pipeline Hostel (only 200 Pesos for a dorm bed).
I was running out of cash so I took a jog to downtown area to use the cheap ATM at Santander. There is a BBVA ATM closer by (10min walk) but they charge a outrageous fee (170pesos) so I took a jog 30min away. It's a good exercise and I'm saving like 136 pesos.
Since this is the cheapest ATM in town (far as I know), there is a huge line with only 1 out of 4 ATM working at the bank. I had to wait about 15mins for my turn and was able to pull some money out. In my opinion, this is the ridiculousness of the current banking system in action. You have to pay the bank a fee to get your money out and even though are paying them, they make it inconvenient as hell. I really hope that crypto based payment system becomes more common so we won't have to keep giving money to these banks.
Once I got back to the hostal, one of my friend I made here asked me if I wanted to go to Playa Manzanillo with him. Sure why not? We walk a bit up to the main road, take a Collectivo for 10 peso and walk a bit more to the beach. The whole trip only took about 15mins and we get to this nice beach in a cove.
We drank beers, ate some oysters, swam, socialized with some other beach goers, and climbed some rocks. It was a typical day on the beach and it was a good day.
