Updates on Phase 1
The first phase of the Hive Borehole projects, which always undergo three phases, began yesterday. The drilling and pump installation are the main tasks of this phase. It is a stage where there is constantly labor-intensive work required, with water access being the most important factor. The drilling took about three to four hours, and it took about six hours to finish the entire work for the day. To help with pumping out the underground water, the pump was installed after drilling the borehole.
It was a great moment; the moment we had been anticipating, when water gushed out after the pump was installed and turned on. Normally, it takes hours to flush out all dirts, but it only took a few minutes to flush out the dirt in order to make room for clean water.
To ensure that the water is safe for drinking, tests would be performed and the necessary treatment would be carried out. The drillers had difficulty obtaining water for their work in the area, which prevented them from starting early, but we were pleased to complete phase 1 yesterday.
As was already stated in our previous post , the project is located at Pentecost Senior High School in the Breman town. As work progressed, a few of the institution's staff stopped by to see us. They were so happy about the project and how it would help the students, who have been experiencing water crisis.
The Breman community recognized the needs of the students and it was for this reason that they asked that the water facility be built in the school. We are also pleased with the location as it will also help ensure its safety and proper upkeep.
What Next?
Phase two begins now that Phase one has been completed successfully. Phase two will also involve a significant amount of work. The second phase will include the construction of the tower for the water tank, piping, the construction of the wall where the taps will be installed, and electrical work for the pump machine.
We have estimated a two-week timeline to complete the entire project and hand over the water facility to the school and community. Phase 2 begins this week, with work beginning on Monday, and we will keep the Hive community updated on the project's progress at each stage.
With the work moving along at a good clip, we are confident that the two-week deadline will be met. Everything has been made possible because of the Hive community's support for the project. As a result, we are grateful to everyone who has shown strong support for the project in order to help change the lives of many people.
