If you have never been to the hospital throughout this year, you don't know what God has done for you.
I don't like the hospital at all, the smell that comes out from the disinfectant, the drugs. But like the say when you plan your life finish, life has a replan for you.
Early this year, whenever I felt a little bit uncomfortable, be it a headache or fever, I always ran tests and got treated, but this particular month, I felt a slight headache, and I have that one-sided headache that keeps hitting you as if your eyes want to close.
I was very broke, I have used the money I have to pay some bills, and I am expecting some money soon. So when this headache started, I was trying to manage the situation with over-the-counter drugs.
Because I thought, maybe because my week was stressful, I kept taking over-the-counter drugs, and instead of stopping, it increased more, I thought it might be malaria.
On this Monday night after I came back from work, just as my body was near the bed, that's it, I couldn't breathe, my chest was going up and down, and my body was on fire, if I eat anything or drank anything, I will just vomit everything, that night was the second longest night of my life.
In the morning, I was rushed to the hospital; I couldn't walk, was just weak and tired, my eyes had sunken inside. I won't forget her, Nurse Chinyere. While the head matron was busy doing anyhow.
Even before the doctor arrived, Nurse Chinyere had already started attending to me; she was treating me; if not for me being a woman, I would have fallen in love with her.
She is the first nurse that I met who doesn't have a pepper body(who doesn't frown or get angry over nothing).
She attended to me gently, ran a test, and then called the doctor. It turned out to be malaria and a lung infection, I was not supposed to see the doctor that fast, but she made it possible. Another reason why I loved this nurse chinyere, is that she just went out and bought food for me without even asking me for money; if she gave me an injection, I didn't even feel it; it was like she had magic in her hands.
On the third day that I came around, I didn't see her cause I refused to sleep in the hospital, I didn't allow anyone to give me an injection, and I asked when she was resuming, and they said she was on the afternoon shift. She is likely not to come cause she worked a double shift.
I allowed Nurse Uduak to give me an injection cause she looked gentle, but her hand was painful. After that day, if Nurse Chinyere is not around, I will wait; in fact, we became friends, and I will always buy two portions of food for her and myself.
She made my days of coming to the hospital smooth and anger-free. Cause some nurses can be very mean, rude, and annoying. It's because of nurses, I hate hospitals a lot; if I had money, I would rather have a family nurse or doctor than go to the hospital.
