Dear Steemians,
First and foremost thing I would like to mention is to thank Fundition for auditing and finding this project worthy as they have approved the project and Fundition has rewarded the posts to support the fund raising I am doing through this project along with these updates.
Thank you Fundition team, I appreciate you all for backing and supporting this and many such projects which are helping the needy people across the globe.
This is an update post for the Fundition.io project I have created with regards to the donation to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund in the South Indian State of Kerala with a link to the Fundition.io project: https://fundition.io/#!/@coolguy123/9a52q7rmd
Updates for last 2 days:
As the rescue operations almost stopped and rehabilitation work is being done rigorously, the death toll has increased to 370 with 2 more people died with illness in the relief camps.
It's also been reported that the price of vegetables have zoomed up in Kerala with green chilly selling at INR 400 from it's usual price around INR 40!! Even the price of normal daily
vegetables like Onions, potatoes and cabbage also increased and are being sold at INR 90 per KG.
The relief help is pouring in from all parts of India and also from abroad as UAE has offered to help Kerala Flood relief activities although the amount is yet to be disclosed.
UNO has also been contacted by a representative from Indian government with regards to the help.
Over 1 million people are still getting rehabilitated in 2774 relief camps but are eager to return back to their homes to see the situation there but as per an estimate about 20,000 houses have been completely destroyed and about 30,000 houses have been partially destroyed and government today announced that it will provided interest free loans to re-construct and repair the houses and it's looking after re-building the roads and other buildings.
As we discussed, the main task for people will be to clean the house and reconstruct them if necessary and Government's help through interest free loans is a welcome note for that.
Those who have returned back to their homes and see their house still in good condition have started the cleaning activity as we can see in below picture.
The Government of Kerala and it's finance minister Thomas Isaac have come up with a unique idea of creating lottery tickets in order to raise INR 100 Crore(US$ 1 billion) where there are attractive amounts for winners of the lottery.
While the help is pouring in the form of money, food items and necessary basic items required for living, Kerala Chief Minister has announced that the state has suffered a loss of INR 20,000 Crore which is almost equivalent to the state's annual plan size for entire 2018-2019 financial year.
So, in that regard, every monetary help matters to the state however small it is and let's try and do what best we can do to keep this fund raising activity more meaningful and raise as much as possible.
Announcement:
Based on the overwhelming response I got this project, I am planning to revise the goal to raise the funds for atleast INR 1 Lakh Rupees (Approximately equal to US$ 1500) from current goal of US$ 500 and I will look forward for your support in that direction.
In addition to the Thank you note I wrote to Fundition for helping this cause, I would also like to extend my gratitude to
,
who have donated to this fund raising project and numerous Steemians who have rewarded these posts and helped in this fund raising activity however small the vote values are, Thank You all :)
