For many years, creations like these have been my obligatory gift for family and friends who were expecting. And how could I go wrong with a personalized gift for the baby that was on the way, impossible!
But now it is a much more special project, because it is cross stitch embroidery for my own son.💙 That's why here I want to leave you the step by step of this delicate and tender handwork.
Cross stitch embroidery is simpler than it seems, because as its name suggests, they are stitches in the shape of a cross or an X, on a special fabric for it, which depending on the country is called Etamina or Aida. Once the work is done, this fabric can be fixed on towels, sheets, pillows, cushions, bibs, or whatever you can think of.
- Tela Etamina o Aida. (O cenefa para bordar, también conocida como tira para bordar, que fue la que utilicé en esta oportunidad)
- Hilo para bordar o sedalina
- Aguja y tijera
- Bastidor de bordado (opcional)
- Patrón con el diseño de tu preferencia
The materials required are as follows:
- Etamina or Aida fabric (or embroidery border, also known as embroidery strip, which was the one I used this time)
- Embroidery thread or fishing line
- Needle and scissors
- Embroidery hoop (optional)
-Pattern with the design of your choice
As you may have noticed, the fabric is made up of small squares, so what you have to do is count the squares in the pattern and make X-shaped stitches to form the same amount of squares.

In different web pages there are plenty of free designs, which like this one, even indicate the colors to use, but you can also combine them to your liking.
