You might have heard about the recent issues with Patreon shutting down accounts of creators. Regardless of how you feel about this, we can all agree that there's a need for censorship-free subscription platforms that are not impacted by the influence of major payment processors.
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are a great way to support your favorite content creators, but it's not easy to set up recurring payments, nor is it possible for creators to offer rewards for monthly donations. This is where Clica offers an easy, out-of-the-box solution.
Clica enables creators to set up a subscription-based donation page, where they can offer rewards for recurring donations and where they can also post exclusive content for those paid subscribers.
Signing up for Clica is extremely fast and easy, as you can see in the above screenshot. You can do so while being fully anonymous and the whole process doesn't take more than 2 minutes.
After signing up, you can choose to convert your account into a a creator account, in order to start receiving donations. Alternatively, you can just add funds to start supporting your favorite creators.
Setting up recurring donations is very easy and straightforward. You start by adding funds to your account using Bitcoin, then you go to the page of your favorite creator and choose how much you're donating per month. You will then donate automatically each month, from the funds that you've added to your Clica account.
Take a look at how easy it is for creators to add exclusive content. They have a nice text editor and allow you to also post Youtube video's in your subscriber feed.
I've talked to the person behind this project and he's been issuing updates regularly. It's currently not fully finished, but it already works great. I've personally tested out most of the functionality and am receiving some donations already on my personal Clica creator page.
He's mentioned that he will feature individual creators on a special page, so they are promoted on the Clica website. This might give you some additional exposure, if you're also promoting your blog there, like I currently do.
They already featured my page on their official Twitter account, for which I'm very grateful! I really like to support small projects like these, since they help to break the monopoly of bigger companies like Patreon, while also promoting the use of cryptocurrency.
