Here we are. Day 31 of me trying to get the "Monthly Author" badge for the first time. When I hit "Publish" on this post I will have achieved one of my "effort" goals for the year and the year has just begun. I'm not gonna lie, it feels good to know I will now have that badge. It will let me know I can actually do it when things get tougher down the road.
Now the fun part. I get to see what sort of impact it made on helping me reach the other goals I set. Namely, HP and LP as well as the HBD. To do that, I'm headed to hivestats.io to see what the numbers say.
The first thing I discover is that since there are 31 days in the month of January, I can't see January 1st. lol Oh well, I'm pretty sure I powered up 100 on that day so I started the year with around 50,100 HP. I bought 1500 around the 10th and powered that up as well, and I am finishing the month just over 52,300. I get about 4-5 liquid Hive every day from delegations and a couple of the games I play (dCity & dCrops) so I'm pretty sure whatever odd numbers are in this are caused by that. Anyway, roughly 416 HP in author and curation rewards. Not bad. Extrapolate that out over a full year and it would equate to around 5000 HP in rewards.
I actually increased my HP by about 2200 for the month with the buy and the interest paid on the HP. If I could figure out a way to keep this pace up I'd be looking at 26,400 HP for the year...which would put me just shy of my 80k HP goal. That's encouraging. Of course everything changes if the bull hits but...at least I know it's doable.
HBD started the year at 0. I used it all to buy Hive at the end of last year to hit the 2022 goal of 50k. Using the 50/50 on rewards payouts, I've managed to accumulate about 70 HBD for the month. Nothing to write home about but 70 bucks is 70 bucks. Gotta start rebuilding sometime. Dollar value wise it looks like I will have come in around $230-$240 from HP and HBD with probably another $60ish from liquid Hive. So $300. Certainly nowhere near enough to quit my real job but it is real money. Of course, I'm just going to let it ride so by the time I actually use it, maybe it will be worth $3000 instead of $300. That's the hope anyway.
On the Leo side, I started the year at 65,456 LP. I'm now at 75,557 so just over 10k LP added. I've also got over 2000 liquid that I'm saving for the February LPUD. I'm hoping to get that closer to 3000 by the time that rolls around in a couple weeks. Without having a nice website to track everything I'm not really sure how much of this came from the writing and curating. I think I average around 15 LEO per post as author rewards. Before I started doing this I figured I was getting around 20 LEO per day in curation so I'm guessing I received somewhere between 1000-1500 Leo from my activities associated with LeoFinance. That's the number I'm kind of interested in because I want to know how much I have to buy to get to a number where I'll be able to hit my goal of 100k with only curation and articles. It looks like I'll need to get myself up to around 90k as soon as possible. From there, I should be able to get the last 10k through effort. Since I'll be close to 80k when the next LPUD arrives, I feel good about my chances.
So, my first mission is accomplished. I've achieved the badge. I'm going to try and overachieve and get the next one too since February only has 28 days. :-) What the hell. I'm still in the running for the yearly badge so I might as well keep it going as long as I can. I have no illusions that I'll actually achieve it because life gets very busy for me in the summer, but if I'm writing every day for the next couple months, maybe it will just be a habit I can keep going. Like I said, doubtful, but I'll try.
Thanks for following along with me this month. I appreciate all the votes and comments. Obviously, this couldn't be done without you. :-)
