What comes to your mind when the word asset is mentioned? We are so financially inclined that I can say, so much that as I speak, what is running through our thoughts is our portfolio. One will Start imagining how much cryptocurrency he holds, how much stocks he controls and the rest of external businesses or projects he is involved in. ALL these are good I must say, spreading your portfolios across diverse asset class, industries and geography can be a wealth tactic that mostly ends up in assets accumulation. Nevertheless, sometimes I feel the need to also diversify assets beyond external resources.
Going further, let me throw in this story. It's about a man who worked himself out to give his family the best life has to offer. Waking up very early and returning very late daily was part of his routine. Of course there was food on table, the children were leaving healthy and going to the best schools in town. This indeed looks very accomplishing until one day when he managed to stay in the house. A shock wave hit him when his children called him Uncle again and again and again. You can laugh for as long as you wish but do well to learn. Imagine fitting yourself into this shoes, the down heartedness will be incomparable.

Actually he was leaving with both his wife and his own younger brother who had much time in the house. He was also working I guess yet the difference was that he had time for children who were not his and the children embraced him without second thoughts as Dad and Mom still remained Mom because she too was always available. To cut the whole story short, the man decided to write a letter to his workplace demanding time to always be with his family else he will quit. The pay was good, remember, so why quit? Life is beyond tangible assets although it's a necessity. This is not the real center of discussion, just bringing in so you could gain additional knowledge.
That said, when was the last time you took a break? When was the last time you decided to rest. I am not talking about two weeks off in 365 days. Maybe you feel your boss goes for a month or three months sabbatical because he has enough money. They prioritize the asset of rest which in turn will continue to make them much wealthier. Do you know what it means to be left alone to think and imagine life through? Some of us claim to be expert and professionals and in the process work all round the clock to prove just that. A lot of us are stuck in a career path because we are missing out in the importance of 'self rest'. The world is moving at a fast pace with tech as we speak yet many are still operating the old ways.
You are burnt out
I can testify to this when I was individually handling my entire business. I was not even working for someone but myself yet I was drained of productivity. Being overstressed everyday came at a cost of losing myself and the needed vibes. I became dull internally although I was outwardly active. At some point, I couldn't even meet up with the external requirements and there was an influx of customer complaints. I don't know if this was the best of ideas but I did shut down business operations for a while. It was a risky one actually in a competing environment yet I felt I was losing my sense of belonging. I didn't actually travel, I stayed indoors and started asking myself personal questions of what I actually want from life.
All those times I spent indoors meant I was having business red candles yet I can attest it helped boost my business standard when I went back. I did a lot of restructuring and incorporated new ideas, the end result was amazing. It was all because I chose to rest and realized a hidden gem behind it. Many of us are complaining or perhaps fearing a job loss due to AI inception. So what have you done about it? As I earlier said, tech is on a fast pace and one reason you should go on sabbatical is to re-reason life, spend time to dig into tech and know how financially secure you could be if or if you do not key in. You need yourself if you are to reach new heights. Some of us have worked for 5-10 years straight and it seems we are not seeing results; you need to unlock the 'rest asset'.
Some feel going sabbatical is expensive, recall I stayed in my very room for a while to get the needed rest. It was not planned for anyway yet I saw the result. You could plan one for yourself, maybe set aside a little portion of your earnings to meet up the expenses target and off you go. I know some will be afraid of losing their job in the process. I am not here to give you ' a quit your job advice', life is all about choice. Maybe you'll discover more if you can manage at least a month break. Even a computer system breaks down when overused, these are machines then how about humans? Wealth creation flows internally before a final outward manifestation.
To conclude, let me add, you need rest, it's a mandatory asset you could leverage. Spending time to reexamine yourself will boost your overall productivity. You will in the process discover your weaknesses over the years and make positive and decisive choices. Plan one for yourself, it will be a trip not regretted.
