Some weeks ago, we had a meeting which was centered in different Hive DApps. However, because of network issues, we couldn't complete the meeting, but a video was made in regard to this, in which different questions regarding DApps were answered.
This is my third newbies initiative task, and I am meant to answer some of these questions to ascertain that I understood this topic perfectly and also, help other Hiveans to understand DApps better.
QUESTIONS ABOUT DAPPS
Before answering these questions, I think it's proper if we get to know what DApps are. In my own little understanding, DApps are different front-ends or interface a person can use in accessing the hive blockchain.
We have front-ends like peakd.com, proofofbrain.io, ecency.com, hive.blog, leofinance.io, and 3speak.tv. Now we know what DApps are all about, let get to the questions.
WHICH DAPPS DO YOU USE AND WHY?
The DApps or interface I use most of the time is PEAKD, and maybe that's because I was introduced to Hive through that front-end. There was a time I thought PEAKD was the only interface used in accessing the hive blockchain but later discovered we have a lot of them. But I guess I am already glued to peakd and that's why I find it difficult using other front-ends.
I have also used proofofbrain.io to publish just a single post and maybe made few comments with it also. I have the ecency app, but I can't remember using it to publish a post or make comments. To be sincere, I only use ecency front-end because of the app because I get notifications easily should there be an any activity on my blog.
HOW DO YOU SEE HIVE NOW COMPARED TO WHEN IT WAS STILL STEEMIT? HOW MUCH HAS THE PLATFORM CHANGED AS A NEW USER?
My blogging career actually started on steemit. I had to abandon my account because of my tedious workloads. Coming to Hive, I found so many new developments that got me overwhelmed. I am really happy the give team thought and execute this project perfectly.
Hive has improved so much more than when it was steemit, making it easier for more persons to join the platform.
Hive is a lot simpler that steemit because on hive, you can easily find contents because it has communities where you can be a part of especially the communities you love. As a new user, Hive has taught me the importance of engagement because you can never grow on the platform if you are not ready to engage.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING PEAKD?
PEAKD to me, is the simplest interface there is on the Hive blockchain. It's very easy and fast to create an account using this interface and this makes it unique when compared to other front-ends.
On peakd interface, I can easily navigate through my tools should I want to see my wallet, my payout, my activities and even the worth of my voting power.
I like the fact that I can be able to check the number of my comments or posts, track my favourite authors and also check how I voted and how I was voted. Peakd makes it very easy for me to easily stake other coins from my engine wallet.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING ECENCY?
I downloaded the ecency app a long time ago but to be sincere, the app is just on my phone to alert me of any notifications I have. What makes ecency interface to stand out is their mobile app. They have a very good mobile app which has a better UI.
It is also very easy to publish an article through the ecency mobile app and when you engage using the app, you get rewarded in form of ecency points which you can use to boost and promote your posts.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING HIVE.BLOG?
Hive.blog is very useful when you want to trade your tokens. It's also useful if you forget your password and want to recover it. I think you can only use hive.blog interface to recover your password.
Also, Should you want to get back all your keys, you can do so only on hive.blog provided you have your master password.
WHAT IS 3SPEAK?
3speak is one of the numerous hive front-ends we have. It is a web3 video uploading platform where you can upload your video content, and it will show on your hive account.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING 3SPEAK?
3speak rewards users with good hive upvotes when they upload videos using their front-end, especially if it's a quality and an original content.
HOW DO YOU EARN UPVOTES ON 3SPEAK? WHAT ARE THE KEY REQUIREMENTS?
You can only earn upvotes when you upload a quality and an original content. There are no two ways about it because there isn't a way you can cheat the system. Your hard work will surely pay off with excess upvotes if you do the right thing. Non-original contents will definitely fetch you a downvote and so also non-quality contents.
HOW MANY VIDEOS MUST YOU MAKE TO GET NOTICED?
You can't just continue to upload non-quality videos and expect to get noticed. It's not always about the quantity, quality matters a lot. Your video must be a quality one fit it to draw attention and that's the only way to get noticed. A single quality video is worth more than 10 non-quality videos.
WHAT IS THE BEST LENGTH FOR A VIDEO TO GET THE MAXIMUM OF VOTES?
The length of your video doesn't make it a quality video. We should know that people only vote the best. You can't upload a 10mins non-quality video and expect to get maximum votes. You will be surprise to see a 3mins video having more votes than a 10mins video. The is only possible because of the quality of the 3mins video. The length of the video does not matter, the quality of the video matters a lot.
ARE VIDEOS MADE LIKE PRESENTATION AND HUMAN VOICES SUCCESSFUL?
Making one's content original and quality is what matters and not the voice. With this, I can say that such videos can and will be successful provided are original and quality contents.
IS IT HARD TO BECOME A VLOGGER?
I really don't think there is anything hard for anyone to do. Our mindset matters a lot. Once you put your mind, body and soul into something, I know that you will definitely accomplish it. It's all about determination, dedication, consistency and persistency because there is nothing impossible. You just have to learn how to upload contents and be consistent in doing that. Don't forget that these contents must be original and quality.
HOW DO ONE MAKE AND RUN IT?
You can create an account through Peakd, leofinance, hive.blog, and even 3speak. After creating your account, resource credit is required to run your account because without it, you can not engage with others on the blockchain, and you can't also publish a post. The person who assisted you in creating the account or the person who refereed you to the platform should be able to delegate some resource credit for your, so you can run your account successfully.
Even though it's not compulsory, I think it's very necessary to start your account with an introductory post. This in a way will make people to notice you and then welcome you into the platform.
You should also check out different communities you think you can flow in, and subscribe to them. Don't forget to engage in these communities because that's the inky way you can get noticed easily.
