I had a choice of either going for a cycle ride today or tomorrow. Tomorrow looked dodgy due to possible rain showers, so I opted to go today. Good choice! 😁
While out on my ride, I spotted this unusual wooden structure with a ramp. On closer inspection, it turned out to be a viewing platform with the unexpected purpose of looking over the hedge at Llamas! 😲. The funniest thing about this is that there were no Llamas there, but there were cattle instead. 🤣
It was a really gorgeous day and I stopped many times just to enjoy the beautiful countryside and the peacefulness of it!
In one particular area of woodland, there was a carpet of wild garlic as far as I could see. A breathtaking sight and the smell was very strong here as you can imagine!
I have travelled most of this route before but there were some tracks new to me. I like to link up the off-road paths together with some road riding in between. Sometimes, this is simple, other times not so easy with a mile or two of road riding.
This can be tricky if you miss a signpost that can be tucked away in the shade of the trees. I always plan the route carefully in advance, but there is always a problem. Today, I made exactly the same mistake that I made before, by missing a signpost, ending up in someone's driveway. 🤣
I think I need a new map! The track has been rerouted around the property.
Continuing the subject of rusty old metal objects from my last ride. I noted these steel drums looking very corroded. It won't be long before they are just a pile of rust.
More obstacles to negotiate. These fallen trunks are too big to ride over. Something I always need to do is lift my bike over something like this at some point during my rides.
Otherwise, it's plain sailing all the way! Im getting to like these long rides. Today, I clocked up another 32 miles of mostly off-road cycling in over four hours. A great way to spend a few hours in some lovely scenery.
