Hello, Hivers! I am Ms. Dehai, 42 years old. I’ve been working as a teacher for 20 years. Dedicated, hard-working, and determined person. I have three lovely daughters who were my inspiration in life, aside from my very supportive husband. What I am having right now is the reward for all my hard work and sacrifices. I came from a family with insufficient income to cover basic living expenses and even finance my education. I worked hard and helped my parents to have an income.
Following my high school graduation, I began working in bakeries, restaurants, and catering services to continue my dreams and life aspirations. I am working, at the same time studying. It was a life struggle for me until I completed my Bachelor of Secondary Education with a TLE major in the academic year 2001–2002 in one of the State Universities here in Cebu. It took me about seven years of working there before I decided to concentrate on becoming a teacher. I have no idea how I managed to finish my education, but I do not doubt that if you pray and strive for it, God will do the rest.
I believe that recognition and appreciation can change a day and even life. I received various awards and recognition even before, but the most valuable award was the recognition of being the most outstanding teacher of DepEd Cebu Province last October 24, 2022. With my love, commitment, and dedication to work, I was chosen as the Most Outstanding Teacher in DepEd Cebu Province during the 2022 Pasidungog Search. This recognition serves as a token of excellence for having an excellent performance in the field of teaching career.
For me, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I did not expect this to happen in my 20 years of teaching. What a great challenge! With this, I need to observe the consistency of my performance. I should exercise teamwork, camaraderie, and cohesiveness not only with my colleagues but to the community.
Lastly, I'm not sharing this to brag but to encourage every teacher to work hard even if others don't recognize us. Let us be true to ourselves. A certificate alone is not enough. Our success is not only measured by the number of awards we are receiving but what matters most is how to live in this world with great joy and satisfaction.
What keeps me busy…
- Baking and Cooking
My seven years of working in restaurants and bakeshops equipped me with all the necessary skills to be a good cook. I used this knowledge in my teaching jobs since my field is in cooking and baking lesson. I also enhanced my skills by enrolling in short courses offered by TESDA to have a National Certification level. With this, cooking and baking have become my hobby. When there are special occasions, I cook for my guests and bake bread and cookies for my family. The kids are so happy when I will cook for their snacks. They are all enjoying the savor of every bite.
- Farming and Gardening
I enjoy farming and gardening in addition to baking and cooking. I enjoyed sowing the peanut seeds even under the heat of the sun. Following several days of sowing, I like to watch the seeds sprout and grow. Every weekend, my family likes to visit our little farm. It has been our way of strengthening our family ties. I always try to instill in the kids' minds that if we plant, we can reap.
- Travelling and Outings
I also love travel. I have been to Bohol, Negros, Siquijor, and of course, the beautiful Islands of Cebu. Most travel I had before was work-related. Coaching various contest skills and being the head of a delegation persuaded my travel experiences. Lately, I have been on the Island of Lost Horizon ‘Camotes Island’, Cebu. It was such a wonderful experience I ever had with my family and friends.
Outings during weekends and holidays make me relaxed and stress-free. I always cherish every moment of our outdoor pleasure with my family. I usually visit beaches to enjoy swimming in a cold crystal-clear pool for relaxation. Swimming makes one feel refreshed while eating and drinking cold drinks together. These are what my kids like to do when the weekend is of free schedule.
Why I am here?
To share my passion, skills, and experiences in Hive, take me in this new endeavor. I consider this as an opportunity to meet new friends and additional learning and adventure through reading your blogs. It will be my new avenue in sharing and imparting our feelings and emotions through blogging. I never expect this to happen in my life since I am not a writer by profession, not even my passion. I only write instructional materials like modules, skill books, and ESIM for learners.
If not for the brilliant motivation and encouragement of ,
