Good morning everyone,
Have you ever visited a Sea Museum? It was my first time. I'm in Taranto, in the Puglia region of Italy.
This museum recounts the maritime history of the city, which has been a key port for trade between Europe and the Middle East since ancient Roman times.
What I appreciated most was the diversity of historical artifacts discovered: boats, Greek and Roman artifacts, statues, jewelry, and more.

Avete mai visitato un Museo del Mare? Per me è stata la prima volta. Mi trovo a Taranto, nella regione Puglia (Italia).
Questo museo racconta la storia marinara della città, che sin dai tempi degli Antichi Romani ospita un porto fondamentale per i commerci tra Europa e Medio-Oriente.
L’aspetto che ho apprezzato di più è la diversità di reperti storici che sono stati ritrovati: barche, manufatti di origine greca e romana, statue, gioielli e molto altro.

There is also an underground structure called the Spartan Museum, which was completely restored and renovated in 2003, a laborious undertaking that lasted six years.
The museums are connected by several flights of stairs, making it very easy to navigate.
È presente anche una struttura ipogea, che si chiama Museo Spartano, recuperata e ristrutturata completamente nel 2003 ed è stato un lavoro molto impegnativo, durato 6 anni.
I musei sono collegati tra loro attraverso alcune rampe di scale ed è molto facile orientarsi.

The underground museum covers 800 square meters and reaches a depth of 4 meters below sea level!
It features historical reproductions of Greek and Roman city of Taranto, covering approximately 2,700 years of history.
L’estensione del museo sotterraneo è 800 metri quadrati e la profondità arriva a 4 metri sotto il livello del mare!
Si trovano delle riproduzioni storiche della Taranto greca e romana, coprendo all’incirca 2700 anni di storia.

The underground museum can also host conferences, conventions, and cultural events, as the largest room (Filonide Hall) has been equipped with a stage and audio-visual equipment. This evocative space can accommodate up to 100 people! An example of how ancient spaces can still be useful to today's citizens.

Pensate che il museo ipogeo può anche ospitare congressi, convegni e incontri culturali, perché hanno dotato la sala più grande (Sala Filonide) di palco e attrezzatura audio e video. Fino a 100 persone possono essere ospitate in questo luogo suggestivo! Un esempio di come gli spazi dell’antichità possono essere ancora utili ai cittadini di oggi.
