LeoFinance is a very big community and represents one of the biggest brands on Hive. But even the biggest brands need advertising because advertisement is crucial for projects to succeed and go ballistic.
Advertisement comes in many ways, from the most sophisticated forms seen by professional business promoters, to the most basic means like sending out Tweets on Twitter or discussion holdings.
Promotion can also be sub-grouped based on the target of the promotion. Are we promoting LeoFinance to an on-chain audience that are not lions or to an off-chain audience who don’t even know about Hive itself?
When we talk about promoting LeoFinance, I think we sometimes overlook the fact that this promotion can be done on Hive itself as well. Not everyone on Hive uses LeoFinance, so the bigger goal is not just to onboard people outside of Hive to LeoFinance, but to create a sort of traction that draws in even Hivers who have absolutely no interest in LeoFinance-related posts into the Pride. We can do this in several ways.
I find it a bit ironic that I’m about to point out something Khal posted about 4 days ago questioning it’s relevance as my major point in how we can advertise LeoFinance this year. In his post here, khal poses the question of whether memes add any sort of relevance to the Hiveblockchain. When I saw the meme in the title description, I HAD TO check the article out.
He made a great argument on how different people perceived the value of memes to the Hive ecosystem and whether or not other people even considered memes as anything of value to Hive. For the most part, I agree with the things he said and it seems like many others did as well.
Memes as both an on-chain and off-chain promotional tool
Beyond the fact that most people use Memes for the purpose of expressing and appreciating humor, memes are actually great marketing tools to reach an audience that even some of the influencers with the biggest followings couldn’t reach.
Literally everyone that has a smartphone today uses the internet to scroll memes every day. A good population of people go to places like Twitter for nothing but memes. Some influencers and affiliate marketers use this to their advantage by building an audience interested in memes and then monetizing their massive following to advertise products for businesses. But this is not even where I’m driving at.
The point I’m driving at is the fact that memes require a certain level of understanding of the content of the meme to appreciate the humor, and that people go to great lengths to understand and find the humor in memes. Making memes centered around LeoFinance promotion will have a lot of people asking questions when they see them.
I made a couple of Hive promotional memes a few months back in this post and they attracted a lot of questions when I shared them on my status. That is the power of memes as an advertisement tool. Now this was simply shared on the status of someone with only about a 100 people viewing his status. Imagine how ballistic it could take LeoFinance on a social media like Twitterwhich currently has a wider user base than LeoFinance does if all or most of us Lions shared it there.
Memes can’t go wrong when it comes to advertisement on-chain to Non-LeoFinance Hivers or to total non-believers on the internet who don’t even know about Hive.
Threads as a LeoFinance attraction centre.
Threading is one of the latest and most important features of not just LeoFinance, but Hive as a whole. Threads are the threads of Hive’s microblogging (pun intended lol). It allows Hivers to be able to post short form content similar to Tweets on Twitter.
Hive is known to be a blogging platform, and this discourages people whose preference is short form content. Threads have come to remedy that. So for some Twitter users, why they don’t pay attention to Hive is because they see it as a platform for long form content and that this isn’t the place for their short-form tweets. It is my belief that a lot of people on Twitter would vacate twitter if they knew Threads on LeoFinance is a Twitter on steroids. Learning that they literally can do everything they’re doing on twitter and more for free will be jaw-dropping for a lot of twitter users.
Using our competition for advertising
I decided not to be specific and say Twitter because even though Twitter is one of the best social media platforms to advertise, it’s not the only one. Let’s focus the talk on Twitter for a minute though.
This might just be the most widespread and effective form of promotion we can do. Everyone (or should I say most) knows how to Tweet and most of us go to Twitter everyday for different reasons. Memes, inspiration, advertisement, you name it. We need to turn Twitter and the rest of the very platforms supposed to be competition into advertisement tools to drive traffic to fuel our growth and userbase. We clearly are the better, so all we need is the traffic to bring people here. Choosing LeoFinance over Twitter is almost guaranteed. The real work is introducing the find factor.
Tweeting and sharing our Hive content on Twitter is a rewarding venture too as posh tokens are there for that purpose. The memes mentioned earlier come into play here, as well as other general tweets with the #hive, #leofinance and #leo tags.
Leo-focused meetups
I see countless meetups of Hivers happening all over the world and more often than not, the meetups focus on the base layer, Hive itself with little to no talk of second layer tribes like LeoFinance. In those meetups, lie an opportunity to inform potential lions of the pride about what goes on in it.
Some Hivers are not involved with LeoFinance because they don’t fully grasp what LeoFinance is and the potential it has. They think LeoFinance is only for people writing finance-related post. We need to get people to see that simply growing a stake makes you a lion. That you don’t need to be a regular finance poster to be called a lion.
and I are planning a Ghanaian meetup soon and in this meetup, there will be a session dedicated to LeoFinance is only for people writing [finance] promotion in it among others. This will be on our little way of contributing to Leo growth and adoption.
Leo-branded products
One of the best ways to advertise is by branding products with your ad. This is especially effective for products like T-shirts and books. I’ve seen a few products carrying the Hive brand used by people mostly in promotion but can’t really say the same about promotion in this regard for LeoFinance. I’ve seen Hive promoters like mcsamm visit schools with Hive-branded exercise books and the likes spreading the word of Hive. Is it not possible to produce and distribute LeoBooks or LeoTs to create Leo awareness?
This of course is not just limited to books and T-shirts, but we could expand it to even things not produced by us. Brand people’s cars with Leo Ads on the streets, set up LeoFinance billboards, you get the idea.
LeoGlossary sows a "what is LeoFinance?" question in the mind of every new person who comes across it.
Isn't it cool that with LeoGlossary, we have our own definition of terms for Hive-related concepts defined by us? Not only are the links imbedded in the posts we share on Twitter, but LeoGlossary results show up in google search results and for every new person who uses a definition from LeoGlossary for the first time, they're left with a "what is LeoFinance?" question in their minds.
The side of this useful in advertising is that the fact that our search results show up on google mean that for every new click, a new random person learns of the existence of LeoFinance. This greatly increases the odds of LeoFinance propagation on the internet and hopefully will get us that "What is Hive?" top searched google question like taskmaster talked about.
These are some of the few things we can do to send LeoFinance into projectile heights.
