Day one
Well, the time has come. It is time for this Granddaddy Purple to begin its next phase of life. I just switched the lights to stay on for 12 hours and be off for 12 hours. This will induce the flowering phase of this plant where she will be for the next 8-10 weeks and during that time, she will (hopefully) produce some super fat nugs of beautiful cannabis.
She has done amazingly over the last two months and really started to fill up the space in the tent. The next two weeks, she will begin what is called the preflower stretch where she will focus her energy creating some new growth and pushing upwards towards the light to get in the best position for collecting as much light as possible.
Shoutout to for 3D printing me this awesome name plate.
This veg cycle has been great for creating a nice thick and strong stem and root system that will feed and support this plant throughout the remainder of its life cycle. I think this is going to end up being my greatest grow to date. I have really focused a lot of my time and energy into creating a strong and healthy plant.
These main branches are very strong and I attribute that to the training I have been putting her through during the last two months. Daily bending and massaging of the branches have really thickened them up and created some thick knuckles where the branches meet the stem. I wish I could see the root system that this plant has. I really think she has expanded under the soil and filled up the 10 gallon pot that she is in.
She is ready and primed for flower. She has already been producing the white hairs thats purpose is to collect pollen from the male plants in order to create seeds. With this being only plant I have, I do not need to worry about her making seeds, but instead she is going to be able to focus all her energy on those fat buds that will be here soon.
She hasn't made it up above the second layer of netting yet, but over this next week, she will definitely grow up over it. I will continue to bend and shape the canopy to create a nice even canopy where all the bud sites are getting light. Creating an even canopy is one of the best methods I have found when it comes to growing thick buds.
Light penetration during flower is extremely important and this is when I will turn all my lights up to their full power. In previous grows, I never really paid attention to the power of my lights and just kept them on full power pretty much the entire growth cycle, but I have been very careful to not blast the plant with the full power during the early cycle and I feel it has made a huge difference in the health and size of this plant.
Stay tuned because this plant is really going to start taking off. It is on par to become my greatest plant ever and I am aiming for at least a pound of very high quality cannabis.
