Rogelio was holding an old black and white photograph when he heard the cab horn, he looked at his watch, it was time to leave, he took the plane ticket that was on the table and left his house, it had been a trip he had wanted to make for many years, but now he was not the least bit excited.
As the cab drove him to the airport, a series of memories began to emerge from the trunk of his memory; the visits they made to his grandparents on vacations, the trips to the beach, the excursion to Canaima, as well as the time he found a lost chicken in his grandmother's yard, who wanted to take it to her apartment, which made his mother furious since his grandparents and his father authorized him to keep it as a pet.
Faced with his mother's steadfast refusal, he had to leave her at his grandparent's house, who took care of the hen and all the chicks he later had, an event that made him very happy and made him long to go and see them. The memories came to his mind one after the other, and he did not want to stop them at that moment.
He contemplated the lights of the airport with tears in his eyes, he was returning to his homeland after ten years of voluntary exile, although he knew that it would no longer be the same, his grandparents, his parents, and his brother had passed away, only his memories remained and some old black and white photographs.
