Shot on Lumix GH4
Hello Hivers!
Happy new year to everyone! I wish you all a fulfilling new year!
Last year was a big roller coaster of events, including the good, the bad and the ugly, especially with COVID still lurking around.
But then, one of my highlights was getting a professional camera. I love videography and I've had numerous attempts in the past at doing well with it as a side job, but it hasn't been quite rewarding.
I had my eye on getting a mirrorless camera, but my the prices of those I found were too expensive.
To my luck, a friend who was into photography was going to upgrade his camera gear.
I asked him to sell to me because I really needed one for professional grade work.
But then again, I didn't have much in my pocket at that time.
After a while, I told him to sell it off if he really needed the money and had a ready buyer.
And to my thankfulness, he did not sell it to anyone else. In fact, he told me to pick up the camera and begin using it, that I could pay anytime I got the money.
He added that he saw potential in what I did, as I showed him a few of my smartphone videography works.
This was answered prayer, as I understood what I could do with such a camera.
Not only did he give me the camera, he added 3 lenses, 2 extra batteries and he gifted me his SD card for me to start with!
Even though I still have to pay, it's refreshing to know I'm not under pressure to purchase a camera anymore.
Did I forget to mention that he gave me the whole package at a low price?
I crosschecked prices online with the price of the camera and I appreciated how much had been laid off as per cost.
The camera is a Panasonic Lumix GH4. It's an old camera, first released in 2014. It's also a micro four-thirds camera, not a full frame camera.
It was famous for being one of the first mirrorless cameras to shoot 4k straight out from the camera.
Today, it's more common for its functionality rather than features. There are obviously better cameras now.
But the GH4 can be adjusted, reworked and even rigged to compete with some cameras of today.
The build is also rugged.
And one sweet thing about it is its flip-screen. So invaluable for monitoring your footage while vlogging, plus the fact that you can remotely control the camera with your smartphone via WiFi. You can literally see everything wirelessly on your phone and tweak some things.
This was what I needed!
It's not perfect. It has some flaws, also considering the fact that it's old too.
But then, I bet this is a good start for a first professional camera for most people.
I haven't done much with it yet, but I'm sure my experience with it will be fantastic!
And of course, I'll be sharing stuff I do with the camera here on Hive!

Thank you for going through!
