I recently heard some facts that I had never looked into. I thought they were pretty interesting and quite revealing. This is true even if you buy into the MYTH that the parties flipped.
First here are some links to the information I am going to pull from here:
- List of African-American United States Senators
- List of African-American United States Representatives
- Jim Crow laws denied blacks dignity, vote
- Civil Rights Act of 1964
- Ku Klux Klan
- When did the ideologies of the Democratic and Republican parties flip?
First let me tell you the idea that the ideologies of the parties FLIPPED is a LIE. It didn't happen. The information out there does not support that. If you want to point out a party that has promoted racism it is actually the Democratic party. Though they've done a VERY good job of pulling the wool over the eyes of the African-American (aka Black) population, and the rest of the population as well.
Let's have a look at some of the information you can get from those links I provided:
Who was the first African-American Representative in Congress?
Joseph Rainey - REPUBLICAN - 1870
How many Republican African-American Representatives came after him BEFORE a Democrat African-American Occurred?
20!!
Who was the first African-American Representative in the Democratic party?
Arthur W. Mitchel - DEMOCRAT - 1935 (65 years later)
So what about Senators?
Who was the first African-American Senator?
Hiram Rhodes Revels - REPUBLICAN - 1870
How many African-American Senators were in the Republican Party after that and before the first Democrat African-American Senator?
2
Who was the first African-American Senator from the Democrat Party?
Carol Moseley Braun - DEMOCRAT - 1993!! (123 years later!)
What else does it show?
Well once the Democrat Representatives appear they are mostly dominated by Democrats from that point on with a sporadic occasional Republican. This is more or less the same with Senators, though there are far less of them.
So considering those dates. 1935 for Representatives (Only Illinois until 1945, so there was a single African-American for that 10 years). 1993 for the Senate.
Emancipation Proclamation - January 1st, 1863
Jim Crow Laws 1877 - 1950s
KKK 1st Clan - 1865 - 1871
KKK 2nd Clan - 1915 - 1944
KKK 3rd Clan - 1945 - present
If you look who was supporting the racist movements they were Democrats. The Republicans were the ones opposing that. It never flipped. Even once African-American Democrats started getting House, and Senate seats it was still the Democrats pushing the racism, and the Republicans opposing it. The only FLIP is that African-Americans flipped to supporting Democrats. With good reason? NO They were conned. It is popular to call people that are African-American and try to point these things out the derogatory term "Uncle Tom". First Uncle Tom was a hero in the story, but aside from that let's think about the derogatory meaning they are trying to imply. Would it be the African-Americans who are supposed to represent their constituents (whether black, white, or other) but instead are part of the party pushing for segregation (aka Jim Crow Laws) and challenging Civil rights movements, or would it be those trying to point out that they are not truly representing?
If you seriously look into it. I can find no historical proof that this FLIP ever occurred.
The flip never occurred but the Democrat party did change how they approached the Black community under President Lyndon B. Johnson (President - 1963 - 1969, Vice President - 1961 - 1963, Senator - 1949 - 1961)
That should show you his true inclinations. Guess what? The Democrats did precisely that.
So what has a Democrat done that has actually benefited black people, or stifled racism? I can't actually find anything. I can find things they were against, but not much that they were for.
It is a big Con
Now this is the tip of the iceberg. I encourage you to look for yourself. Look at the specific voting records. Look at places that claim to have done things for the benefit of black people or to stop racism and promote equality that came from Democrats. If what they were saying happened. Look at the outcome of that action a decade or two later. Sometimes you don't even have to look that far.
Now I'm not saying you should vote Republican. Your job is to elect the person that will best Represent you. It really shouldn't be about parties and I honestly wish parties didn't exist.
However, one thing is clear. Sane people should #walkaway from the Democrat Party
