Education is one important key thing everyone should have whether formal or informal, it doesn't have to matter, but what matters is the fact that at the end of the day, there is communication, and there is learning taking place.
Back in the olden days, formal education wasn't in existence, so the only form of education was informal education where the parents had to pass down their culture to their young ones and also get to transfer to their children skills or basic survival skills down to their generation.
Today the fast extinction of informal education is taking place and the only form of education many are looking at and believing is the most important form of education is formal education because of the setting.
The one where there has to be a classroom, student, teacher, or lecturer, is structured, with subject grades and a syllabus that has to be covered within a stipulated period. We fail to understand that education goes beyond what happens within the four walls of the classroom and between a teacher.
It's no wonder, nowadays, we see people who we believe have gone through the four walls of the school who are supposed to be well mannered, articulated in words and actions, and also disciplined, behave in a way that is detestable and repulsive to others.
From conception, parents are the first teachers to their children/kids, they are the rightful people meant to educate their kids on basic skills, behaviour, and survival skills that are required for everyone in the society. Unfortunately, since formal education has come to take over informal education many parents aren't buying the idea of educating their kids well before they get to associate with the society because they feel that have a lot on their plate and should leave that aspect for teachers to do.
The basic and necessary things are supposed to be taught, from home which helps the child and guides them on how to interact with the outside world. The school system will only teach them by the books or syllabus which is just a tiny little aspect of education and the parents have a greater and more important role to play in educating their kids/children.
Education should be viewed beyond the four walls because currently, education within the four walls carries no important impact on the student because of how it is managed and the school setting is slowly becoming a thing of a joke because of the much corruption and watered-down rules going on in the school system.
Education is paramount not just within the four walls of a class but outside and at home, so it should be taken seriously because I believe that there will come a time when the certificate will not be accepted or part of the criteria to get a job but base on head knowledge and social influence. We must learn everything that needs to be learned not just being confined to what the four walls have to offer to us but more from home, and experiences because it is part of education.
Every man needs the education to strive, struggle, thrive, survive, and live in this world, so it doesn't necessarily mean going to school like the classroom setting, as long as they can learn and do the necessary basic things in life, then they are said to have gone through education.
The truth remains that not everyone is privileged to pass through education in the four walls of a classroom, so as long as they can communicate, learn skills or vocations, and do the necessities then they are as good as everyone who went through the four walls of a classroom.
More reason why it is necessary that parents are involved in their children's education, and not leave the job for teachers alone, because they won't be able to carry out that job effectively without their help.
